    1. Actually, I think ModMii is having some issues right now. Google blocked [member='xflax']'s site or something like that. I would have hoped that it would have been resolved by now but I guess not. Here's the support topic for that
    http://gbatemp.net/t...ew__getlastpost

    2. Also, in my experience I know there are some things that ModMii can't download very well through some proxy servers if you happen to have one of those.

EDIT : I think this would do it for the # 1

There's also a possibility Nintendo is doing some repairs on their update servers or something so if that's the case you would just have to wait a bit for them to finish.

I have a question about bricking. I have a Wii 4.3U that I want to softmodvso the kids can run their games from a hard drive instead of the disc. I want to back up their games and then put the disc away for safekeeping. The problem is, we have a 3 year old who gets into EVERYTHING. He can (and has) turned on the Wii and deleted all the files from it (save files, Wii ware games, Mii, etc) Nothing that we can't live without or havent been able to replace. The problem is, after I softmod the Wii, is it possible, either thru deleting a file, or from getting access to the settings, to brick a Wii? If so, can it be recovered?

I want to do the softmod before all our games are ruined, but if I have to wait until he is older (much older) then so be it.

Softmod it using ModMii, as if it were a virgin wii, it will install a usb loader, which will boot your usb drive, and has a default option to NOT delete anything on the drive, without knowing the 4 digit password, so, your games will all be safe.
But for the wii itself, install priiloader, in its settings block online and disc updates, and that part will be safe.
Your HBC, usb channel, and saves will all be comprimised by your 3 year old, though, you can have the wii boot directly to the usb, which would be your safest option, go into priiloader and have priiloader boot right to usb loader.

Quick question, ive been running USBloader for quite some time now. I installed it with modmii and ive been enjoying it a lot, makes it so much more convenient than looking for disc and swapping them all the time, not to mention the possibility to download those hard to find games or play any region games.

Now what should i use for gamecube iso? Would u guys recommend SNEEK, UNEEK, DiosMios, DML . . .

I want something just as convenient as USB loader so what are the pro and cons of available options like compatibility and such. I have found usbloader to work almost flawlessly with all the games i play so i want something along those lines for the GC.

Thx for ur time guys :P

    Hi all,

is it my TV or why am I unable to play any Virtual Console games using the component cables? The screen goes black, and when I click HOME on the Wiimote it comes back, but only allows me to go back to the menu. The resolution doesn't matter. 480i, 480HD, anything. Any tips?

Posted this in another board, maybe will get better luck here. Basically, I've been getting "failed to launch" errors from installed wads that I've moved to the SD Card.

    Using:
    System 4.3
    HB Channel 1.0.8
IOS 248 (for CFG USB Loader)
    [IMG] Wad Manager 1.7

I understand that other people have had this problem, but IIRC not using System 4.3. I've been using Waninkoko's [IMG] WAD Manager 1.7 to install WADs to the Wii, then transfering them to the same SD Card (via the I run all my other apps from. Only some of them work. Some games that I've already downloaded legitamately don't work, while others I've never downloaded work perfectly. To my best understanding, I need to use a patched IOS70, but I don't have access to the internet (at home) to use the appropriate application. I heard about ModMii, but am afraid of bricking my Wii. Can ModMii create a NAND backup in case of failiure? Is it too late to install BootMii?

I've also noticed that my internal Wii memory has gone down a bit despite moving all the games to the SD Card. When installing multiple wads using the manager, sometimes I run out of memory and the Wii prompts me to delete or move channels. Sometimes, I end up with a total memory capacity lower than when I start out with, despite moving or deleting all the newly installed wads. I think it has something to do with my Wii's NAND, but I'm unsure if uninstalled files are still lingering inside my Wii. Is there anything I can do to ensure that there isn't anything in the Wii's "cache" or whatever?

    Thanks.

I figure this is the best place to put this. My brother recently picked up a Wii and wanted me to hack it for him like mine. Since it's been a while since I did mine (for the record mine was the first black model running the 4.2), I've totally forgot everything I learned about Wii modification. Unless I keep up with things I tend to forget them unfortunately so I had to re-teach myself. Now since his Wii was new, I followed the steps in the "Modify Any Wii 4.3 & below" guide on this site and went the Letterbomb route. Everything went good as far as I can tell, got HBC, bootmii as ios, and priiloader all installed. But post hacking I'm having a couple of problems.

I decided to use CFG as the usb loader, since thats what I use and it's been great. Now here is where I encounter a problem. Until I get him a external hardrive, I figure he could use my USB Stick for to run a game or two. Thats what I did for mine until I found a decent priced drive. But for some reason I can not get cfg to work properly on it, even thought this is the same stick I used until I got my hardrive. I figured maybe it was because of the form the stick was formatted in, but no matter the option I can't get it to work. Either I can get the loader to boot, but it doesn't find any games(FAT) or the loader doesn't boot at all(NTFS). The weird thing is if I connect my external hardrive on his Wii it works without a hitch, but I can't get it to work off the stick even though it's set up the same way.

I'm also encountering a problem using MMM as a Wad Manager when trying to install a couple of VC wads, that I have on my Wii of a SD. Everytime I try to install a wad it goes through all the correct motions, then just says it failed and I have no idea why. Again these are the same wads I have on my Wii and I have no problem installing and removing them on mine.

So did I forget to do something or is it because he running a different system menu than mine? Or is it that I'm doing something horribly wrong?

    Wondering if anyone can help.

I've been running for a long time with a modded Wii, so long that I can't really remember how I did it in the first place! Recently I've started to run low on disc space, and seem to be spending half my time moving things around. Reading around here for a solution, NEEK seemed to be the way to go. So I've run through the UNEEK+DI setup with ModMii.

Got it all sorted, and initially tried to boot directly into the virtual NAND. After resolving a few of the slot flashing errors, I eventually came unstuck with the 1 short flash error, as I understand it this means "The TMD of the requested title is missing"!? Given that everything appeared to be set up ok, I decided to try booting the virtual NAND via the NEEK2O forwarder channel from the real NAND. To my surprise this all went well, and everything appeared to be working ok.

I threw the towel in at this point, and started from scratch. Much simpler the second time round(!), but annoyingly I've ended up with the same problem; the 1 flash error. Again I can access the virtual NAND via the channel, and everything works ok. I've tried it with different SD cards, and different HDD's, in various combinations, with the same result every time.

I figure it must be something to do with the setup, or the boot process? I've got BOOTMII is boot2, and the BOOTMII folder on the SD card contains the NEEK armboot.bin, and the bootmii.ini. So what am I missing? Anyone got any ideas?

I was using 4.2U, when my internet wouldn't work. So when I got the internet to work, I installed the 4.3U update while the Wii (was already hacked). Then everything go screwed up. So I used homebrew and deleted (all of my IOS, every single one that it would let me). I restarted my wii, and there were no channels at startup besides the disc tray. So I again, installed the 4.3U update, then everything was back to normal. Then I used Letterbomb to install the Homebrew channel, and now, no matter what I do, I cannot install cIOS 249. I've used almost every kind of software in the book, Multi Mod Manager, WAD Manager, cIOS Installer, everything. I always get ret -2011, or ret -1035. Is there anyway to completely wipe my Wii and start from the beginning?

When you say "usbloader" do you mean CFG or GX? Anyway, either one can use DM(L) to run GameCube games as long as you're using the newest version (xNEEK environments also use a version of DiosMios(Lite) to run GC games. They're really just different loaders.) If you want to run from SD (DML) you can just use the latest release version of either usbloader (as long as it's NOT the latest version of DML ... anything version 1.5 and below will work with them, though.). If you want to run from USB (DM) you'll have to use one of the latest beta versions which you can get in the corresponding official threads in this forum. The newer betas support both DM, DML as well as Devolution for GameCube games so no need to use a different loader for each.

Yes, the patched IOS70 would be what you'd need. It's not too late to install BootMii and it's BootMii that can make the kind of NAND backup that works as brick protection. When dealing with the System Menu's IOS like this, there's always a LITTLE bit of risk but just don't DELETE it and you'll be fine. Install it over the top of the existing one and don't turn the power off while it's installing (it's really rather quick anyhow). A power outage in mid installation is the only thing that would really be likely to brick it. I think the WAD has a checksum in it so it just won't install if the download was bad. If you wanna be REALLY safe, get a WAD for a clean IOS70, too, and in the off chance that WADManager gives you an error while installing one of the contents just go install the clean WAD without restarting (As long as you don't restart or power down the Wii until SOME ios70 WAD gives you the "installation successful" type of message you'll be just fine.) ModMii is the best way to get the WAD (somewhere where you DO have Internet) and taking it back to you're Wii for installation.

When you move something to your SD card with the System Menu it still leaved the ticket behind to kinda mark that it's still installed on that specific Wii console so as I've seen it will always leave behind 1 block. I think there's nothing you can really do about it and still be able to activate the contents of your SD card. If you delete the channel off the SD card and want that space back you can always uninstall the WAD with your WadManager. (If you're just going to reinstall the WAD anyhow, I think it will just reuse the space of the existing ticket so no space lost there.)

Is it possible to use the GC controller as a classic controller for games like Xenoblade, TLS and MW3

My BootMii is an IOS so I don't have any experience with that and I use the forwarder channel for my NEEK installation which (like you) seems to work fine.
As a workaround, though, I'd suggest installing PriiLoader and installing the neek2o PriiLoader DOL file. That way it will still autoboot to NEEK but it will use the same DOL that the forwarder channel uses and so should work fine.

Basically, wipe the Wii clean and start from the beginning is what you've already done (which was kinda dangerous, actually. You got lucky there.) What I'd say is wrong with the errors you're getting is the different installers don't have good permissions with the IOS they're using and/or you probably have a stub IOS in the 249 slot that is causing trouble. I think it's either MMM or WiiMod that has an option to automatically just remove ALL the useless stubs from your system. I'd do that and then, if it still doesn't work, install IOS236 which should have all the right permissions. Then use WAD Manager and when it asks you which IOS to load and use (first thing it asks) tell it to use 236. That should let you install just fine.

That depends on the game but a lot of games can use either one.
    GameCube controller
    Classic Controller

EDIT : According to the lists I linked, the three games you mentioned, at least, do NOT support GC controllers.

I meant is it possible to use the GC controller on CC only games (which the three i mentioned were, sorry for not clarifying enough)?

I'm guessing that since you hadn't hacked your Wii for a while, you were using an older cIOS (Waninkoko or Hermes?) and You probably installed a newer D2X cIOS on your brother's Wii which although it has nearly 100% game compatibility I've heard that there are some USB devices it doesn't work with (I'm sure there are some that it DOES work with that YOUR older cIOS won't work with, too, but that's besides the point) for now, you could get Waninkoko r17 from ModMii and see if that helps. Once you get him his own HDD, I'm sure it'll work fine, though.

I'm not sure what to say about the WAD's for the VC games, though. Maybe you could get him some emulators as a workaround but I'm not sure why it's not working.

ModMii says my 249 is a stub, and whenever I try to remove all stubs, I get errors, whenever I try to install a new version of 249 I get errors, and whenever I try to patch IOS236 I get an error. Why can't I do anything? The error is always -2011.

Wait, I finally got cIOS 249 to install.

Hmm, have you installed 236 as a WAD from ModMii?
Is you're HBC the newest and does it say it's running with IOS58 ? (in the corner when you press the home button in the HBC itself)
Have you tried restoring the trucha bug to 36 with either WiiMod or MMM (I always get those two mixed up) or with Dop-Mii ?
Have you tried directly deleting 249 with either Dop-Mii, MMM, WiiMod, or AnyTitle Deleter ?
