I should have explained that. A stub IOS is a "dummy" IOS. It's basically a placeholder. It won't work if you try to run something with it. Nintendo installs stubs for two reasons.leoszt said:hmm ok
DUMB QUESTION:

The version numbers of the System Menu IOS are increased with ModMii. With mauifrog's guide, the both the IOS and the System Menu have the version number increased. Mauifrog's is more beneficial because the System Menu won't be updated if you accidentally disable the "Block Disc Updates" or "Block Online Updates" hacks from in Priiloader. However, your IOS's will be updated, so it's also beneficial if you need to update an IOS for a game, but you can't install them manually for some reason.Morien said:Hello,
I'm about to mod my wii, and just one last question before I do.
I was going to use mauifrog's softmod any wii guide, with the main benefit (that I perceived) being that I'd be downgraded from 4.3 to "System Menu 4.1 v544## is installed, preventing N updates, restoring region free and bannerbomb rev65281 are maxed to prevent Nintendo from stubbing them (from the guide)".
But then I was taking a bit of a look through Modmii, and saw that if I downgrade to 4.1 through that then "Version numbers have been increased to survive official updates." (from Modmii).
Is it the same thing? What other extra brick protection is given by using the softmod any wii guide?
P.S. I'd appreciate region free loading, which is why I'd like to return to 4.1

I'm guessing you updated your Wii to 4.2 or 4.3. That wasn't a good idea. You need to resoftmod your Wii, since you will no longer have Priiloader or some of your cIOS's. Use ModMii.ARRRRGH! said:today i turned on the wii and went to the usbloader channel but i got a iso249 is a stub error
Lol, well once you have properly softmodded it with ModMii (no, if it wasn't properly softmodded before since this happened), you won't be prompted to update the System Menu. You may have to manually update the Shopping Channel if it is out of date, but you can get that from the ModMii as well.ARRRRGH! said:Fuuuuu i knew it i told my room mates to not update the wii
