    start ModMii, from the main menu, enter "S", then "3", then "UD", then follow the prompts

    when ur done with that, from ModMii's main menu, enter "S", then "4", then follow the prompts to help u convert 1 or more games to s/uneek format

    be sure to read all the on screen hints during the process

    when ur done, insert your hard drive and sd card into ur wii, launch bootmii (it will launch automatically if u were able to install bootmii @ boot2), and be patient, loading s/uneek the first time can take 5-10 minutes, u should see activity on your hard drive, but other than that it will seem like a black screen. The 2nd time loading s/uneek will be much faster

    Essentially. Although there really is no need to run them from anything else. I'd give just one game a try for now before going with all of them just to get a feel for it and decide if you like it that way. You will still be able to apply cheats and such with loaders like Gecko OS after having already having picked and mounted the game from system menu.

    NAND is the internal memory of the wii. It's what holds all the saves and software on the system. Oh and hey there is no shame in having no idea what things are the only time one should feel shame about that is when they are unwilling to ask questions to help them figure it out. [IMG]

    and yes thats what the idea behind modmii was. was to make an all in one PC side tool for mod setups to make modding your wii to the fullest extent possible as easy as could be for the average user. I for one can't thank XFlak enough for this tool.

    I have a noobish question... If savegames have no copy protection, ecc keys, and all that, how is it possible to download a exploited save and exploit your wii?

    Only some game saves have no copy protection, and some exploits like smash stack don't even require a game save.

    to answer about the keys. We have managed to obtain those keys needed to decrypt/encrypt certain parts of the software. the key is known as the common key. One thing that can be decrypted by these keys is the save files which means they are also encrypted with the key too. as for the save only some have copy protection. those that don't can be used on any wii as they are all encrypted with this key that is used in each and every wii.

    I understand now, but Hells Guardian: Though we have the common key, we do not have the ECC private key for every wii, which stops us from editing channels. I'm assuming that what you guys are trying to say is that not all Saves are encrypted with ECC private key? Could this be that they wanted to (almost) encourage save sharing?

    Not a single one is. They are all encrypted with that common key as I sated. The channels are encrypted with that key yes but not the saves.

    After using NUSD command line, do I only need the WAD to install the title I retrieve?

    When I hacked my Wii I had absolutely no idea about how it works or even what am I doing. It all worked fine with a step by step guide from here. Though I want to know what I'm doing and I've started to read about CIOS. I wanted to check if my current CIOS is up to date, so I've downloaded Modmii and created a download according to what I needed. I've noticed that a few files on my card are in the lower revision than the ones found by Modmii.
    Here is how it looked:
    Modmii -> Currently on my card and in my system

    * IOS80v6944[FS-ES-NP] -> IOS80-64-v6943[TB+NAND]
    * cIOS202[57]-v5 -> SAME
    * cIOS223[37-38]-v4 -> DOESN'T EXIST
    * cIOS222[38]-v5 -> SAME
    * cIOS224[57]-v5 -> SAME
    * cIOS249[56]-v21d2x3 -> cIOS249[56]-v21d2x2
    * cIOS250[57]-v21d2x3 -> cIOS250[57]-v21d2x2
    * RVL-cmios-v4_WiiGator_GCBL_v0.2 -> DOESN'T EXIST

    So, here comes my questions:
    1. If I'll install new wad's it is equal to custom CIOS update? (I don't have to uninstall old ones in the first place?)
    2. Is this the right way to do the updates? I mean, should I just run ModMii once in a while, generate download and check if the versions are higher than my current ones?
    3. When installing new CIOS wads, should I also start ISO234-v5-Mod as well to check for updates?

    Thanks in advance.

    It did. I have downloaded cios installer and tried to install those wads using it, but it was giving me error -2. So Ive used online update in it and now I have absolutely no clue what files I have installed. Is there any way to check it?

    syschk...
    put in your apps folder and run in HBC....this will create a file on the SD root which will list your IOSes...

    cIOS installer: more specifics? from where?
    Online Update: like an official Nintendo Update or the online install feature within the cIOS installer?

    why are you hell-bent on updating...what issues are you having? ....

    If you managed to take out the ARM chip, and the NAND of a wii, and put it into another wii, would the wii boot? I know that the NAND is encrypted with keys, but I read on Hackmii that the keys were stored in the ARM chip (Hollywood or broadway, I forget.) So if you switched out the ARM and the NAND, wouldn't the Wii have the Nand keys?

    I have a silly question: does a modchip pose problems with compatibility?

    A friend of mine would like to run backups but frankly he can't be bothered with the headaches that come with softmodding.

    So I thought I'd have his Wii chipped instead so he wouldn't have to worry about getting the correct IOSes for his games and the like.

    Dude, softmodding is the way to go. Nowadays, most ppl with Modchips decide to also softmod because of all the extra bells and whistles it offers.

    Softmodding is really really easy, just use "ModMii"! Even someone with no experience can finish softmodding their Wii using ModMii in 0.5-2hrs

    Thanks for the response!

    Hmmm I guess I'll softmod it for him then. I personally had the problem that certain newer games required some new cIOSes installed but I suppose that I can give him the occasional update should that happen again. [IMG] . I'll admit the convenience of an USB loader is amazing.

    Super newbie here asking a few questions. I've read the stickies and followed them to the best of my ability but I'm still quite confused. I have a Wii on 3.2u, got started on the COMPLETE SOFTMOD GUIDE and I now have Homebrew Channel, Homebrew Browser, a few cIOS (waninkoko's 17 and Hermes ver 4 AND 5), trucha bug, and YAWMM. But I'm not sure what else to do or in what order I should do it...

    Should I upgrade my Wii to 4.2? How do I update? Would that invalidate the cIOS and trucha bug already installed? I was just aiming for loading backups from the USB. What else do I need? What are the advantages of the different versions of the cIOS? Do I really need them all or just a few?

    I was planning on using WBFS and USB Loader GX 1.0. Can the WADS and other stuff be stored in a 2 GB SD card? I mean will 2 GB be enough to store homebrew and wiiware/VC or should I use FAT 32 and store WADS in the harddrive?

    Sorry if my questions seem all over the place. I'm new to Wii hacking and reading different guides + doing what they say got be a bit puzzled as to what I really need to do. Should I just use ModMii to simplify everything? o_0

    Use Fat32 on your HDD, wii backup manager, use ModMii d2x cios and configurable usbloader
