just curious though, how much blocks do the everybody votes channel, weather channel, news channel, wii shop channel, and photo channel take up, respectively?

On my wii everybody votes = 59 blocks, photo channel 1.1=3 blocks
Weather, News and shop channels have reserved space, so deleting them wont give you more blocks free

What does this mean in WiiSCU:
Does Trucha + means Trucha bug
And Trucha - means Trucha Bug fix?

+Trucha means it'll patch the trucha bug back in
-Trucha means it won't.
It says in the readme. It's a limitation of tona's menu code that i could only use 7 characters, therefore I couldn't put anything more to explain it in the app itself.

Noob question. Didn't think I'd need to ask one of these.

I have a 3.2U Wii with Gamma Loader, GC Loader, HBC
I wanted to install this .wad but just to be safe I wanted to install preloader first.

I know you need the .dol- Which I have.
Also you need the "hacks.ini" - Which I have.

Is there any certain IOS's that need to be installed?
I've installed a few, I believe one for the Rock band Launcher.. Animal Crossing.

Can I just go ahead and install this and be fine?

Dont want to mess up anything.

Thanks

Alright, so I tried to make a topic about this but it went down really fast and I didn't want to bump it yet. Anyway here it is.

So I've been on firmware version 3.4 for a while now but I accidentally updated to 4.0 improperly.

Can I just simply use IOS Downgrader (or cIOS Downgrader? What is the difference? Or maybe I'm wrong on both counts and should downgrade using Any Title Deleter?) to go back to 3.4, pretend the update never happened, and than reupgrade to 4.0 without any problems?

I used this guide on 3.4 firmware (http://www.wiisoftmod.2ya.com/) and am planning to use this guide to get to get back to 4.0 once I've downgraded again to 3.4 (http://www.gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=144835). I currently have cIOS v7 installed. Am I doing this right?

I am probably missing something quite obvious, hence posting in this thread rather than USB loader.

Is there a pre-made xml file for the USB Loader ? (I managed to find an icon for the homebrew channel in one of the threads, but not the description)

If you are using the original release 1.5 USB Loader, which folder do you put the covers in and what format should they be ? (I did what I thought I should and nothing showed up when I was selecting the games)

I like to give something back, so here goes. I apologise in advance if I am duplicating something in the stickyed threads, but I could not find anything like it. I am the first one of my group of contacts that got the loader going. My understanding of the current advice is that it is hit & miss if a drive is supported, so try another drive. However I have had a success rate of 9 out of 9 drives (all 512mb and below) initially not recognised by the USB Loader.

1] Using “Disk Management” on the PC (start>Control panel>Administrative Tools) find the USB disk and (right click menu) delete all the existing partitions.
2] (right click menu again on the USB disk) create a new PRIMARY partition (do not worry that XP only allows NTFS on drives over 32GB).
3] Use Fat32format (freeware http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Hard-D...32format.shtml) from the command prompt to make the disk fat32.

After that the WBFS format in the manager has worked every time and the drive has been recognised by the Wii.

*EDIT* Just noticed topic http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=146887&st=0, so I was being a N***, sorry ! However, any chance of getting the thread stickyed to prevent further posts requesting drive preparation info ?

Whenever I load my system menu from my preloader menu, I get a message about there not being a hacks.ini. I accidentally formatted my SD card at some point, so I guess that file was lost when I did so. Is there a way to get it back, should I reinstall preloader maybe? What's the current version?

Use NandClean to remove the hacks.ini from NAND and then load a new one onto your system. Reinstalling preloader still leaves the settings and hacks.ini files on your wii.

O.k. i'm not quite a noob but i got taken into hospital the day waninoko announced the whole USB loader thing and i just got out..
SO i'm readng thread after thread and getting more overwhelmed and confused as i go..so this is a simple series of questions

1) is there any advantage to system menu 4.0 other than SD wad capability

2) do *ahem* Downloaded wads work o.k. on 4.0

3) if 4.0 is not really necessary is there a version of preloader that works with 3.3U (my current system)

4)
which of the usb loaders is generally favoured ?

I've seen there is a waninoko upgrade to 4.0 .. but do i really need it to use the USB loader ?
and if i use it will i lose functionality ... i've been readin some thread where people lost wads.

Thats it .. i wanna upgrade but get the best of all worlds..
tell me what i need.

Thanks

I am going to install the HBC on my 3.4u Wii and I was planning to get a 4GB SDHC card. Will I have to use a regular SD first to install the HBC (thereby enabling SDHC support)?

Thats it .. i wanna upgrade but get the best of all worlds..
tell me what i need. A cIOS and Wanins upgrader (some people seemed to have upgraded to 4.0 the official way after they installed a cIOS, but I dunno how that works

Thanks

you need a normal sd first as 3.4 has no SDHC support
(4.0 has, but you can't install HBC on it)

Quick question: from my understanding, all I have to do to play VC games I've downloaded (like Bomberman Blast, etc.) is put it on my SD card and install it using Wad Installer? Are there any downsides to this, like Nintendo seeing that I have an illegally downloaded game when I go online?

Just for the record, I have a 3.3 NTSC with all the current IOS's.

I have only just got a problem with my 3.2E Wii, certain apps code dump when they try and access the network, I know the SD and apps are ok, I tried them on another wii. For example,

News, Weather, Shop etc = works
Homebrew Channel = works
Homebrew Browser = works
Anyregionchanger = works
WiiSCU 0.2 = works
WiiRadio = works
WiiEarth = works
WiiTuka = works
cIOS downgrader = not working
IOS downgrader = not working
Config USB Loader (when trying to d/l boxart) = not working

I tried reinstalling cioscorp v2 again, nothing, running AnyregionChanger to reinstall files and see if i had corrupt them but still the same.
I have some cioscorp v2 files still installed whatever anyregionchanger didnt overwrite, Preloader 0.29, Patched IOS60/IOS61/new IOS38/51, IOS16 (old) and cIOS36 rev9/10 installed at the moment. Is this a corrupt IOS problem?

Create a new hacks.ini and copy & paste the latest Preloader hacks for the correct region.

Has Softmii v3.0 been released yet ? according to a quick google search it was released around the 24th but I cant find it anywhere.

Also, when I eventually get it, can I update my homebrew stuff I already have on my Wii with it ?

Ya but you should be using cios rev 9/rev 10 instead of rev 7.

Hi a stupid ass friend of a friend who's Wii I setup with Backup Laucher gamma many months ago called me a few days because his backups 'suddenly' don't work anymore. Originals work fine though.

So I told him: "You must have updated to 4.0" "NO, NO, NO i'm positive I didn't" was his reply.
Now he texted me yesterday that he *might* have update afterall.

Now I want to help him downgrade. He has HBC installed and CIOS rev7.
Can I just use Cios Downgrader to get him back to 3.2E ??
