My DS got stolen with my r4ds in it about a year ago, and I feel like getting another DS now, which means another r4like cartrage

and i hear r4ds got sued by nintendo and they stopped making all their stuff, and now there are only knockoffs now that work horribly.

so is the next best thing the CycloDS evolution? if so, where would be the lowest price (with shipping to america) for somewhere that ships to america?

and is this also a fake?

R4 is dead, please get something that isn't an R4. A good card is the CycloDS Evolution if you dont care about the price, but the best budget card is the Acekard 2

The R4 is one of the worst flash carts you can buy nowadays. The CycloDS is one of the best. Is that what you mean by "next best thing?"

Other alternatives that are less expensive than the CycloDS and still much better than the R4 would be the Acekard 2, Edge, and SCDS1.

RealHotStuff has said that they can't guarentee that your R4 that you will get is legit. If you do decide to oreder one and get a fake, then you can return it from what I have heard.

lol, i can see you're all r4 haters, I never had a problem with it, but thats cool.

Is there any reason why the CycloDS Evo is better then the Acekard 2? Any special features or what?

    My opinions:

DSTT is the best choice for under $12 including shipping:
    DSTT

EDGE is the best choice for under $25:
    EDGE

CycloDS is about $50. It is the best, but I think it is overpriced compared to the almost identical EDGE:
    CycloDS

I would not consider buying an R4 or clone now.
I suggest buying a 4GB, Class 6 TF card like:
    Transcend

M3 Real is the best, IMO.

I wouldn't consider the people here R4 haters... most here definately want more features then it can currently provide. Like real time save, better skins, support more the newer or more obscure games, SDHC compatibility (yes, the R4 clones have this, but wont do anything more then an R4 could do), ingame text reader, and a host of other things.

If you dont need all that, just get an EDGE or an Acekard2

skins get me off, as would some real time saving, so i'm probably going to go with the Cyclo.
Do you have this? I guess I would assume something so cheap to be crappy..
Though the price cut might be because it doesn't have the adapter which I wouldn't need at all.

Gotta love the OP started well....listed the problems with R4DS (lawsuit, etc).
But still, s-t-i-l-l, s--t--i--l--l, had to put in a link where to buy an R4DS! [IMG] ...and yes, I too have an old R4 as a backup cart - loaded with secondary stuff (homebrews, multimedia, etc)

As far as memory cards go... just get the biggest you want, for the price that matches the speed you want (check high end camera sites for reccomendations on speed, these guys stream HD Video to em... so speed def matters), and unless you run the games that have reported slowdowns, I personally havent had issues with the cheesy A-Data or Kingston cards ive picked up in the clearance sections locally.

It's a class 6 card. There are 3 classes that determine speed.

    Class 2= Slow
    Class 4= Medium
    Class 6= Fast.

but... not all class 6 cards are nessaceraly faster then all class 4 cards (especially in the read spead, which is what matters most afaik for games)

class 6 cards are not guaranteed to be faster, the class rating is only for minimum sustained speeds, better cards can and often do much better then the minimums. I've been reading many reviews on the SLR camera sites (these guys mainly are concerned with write speeds though) and there are several sites from google where class 4 cards take say 21 photos in 30 seconds and class 6 cards only do like 18.

Just depends on the quality of the card.
