No need for EmuNAND to play games only?

    Guys,

Please help me understand here. If all I want to do is play my 3DS game backups, I don't need to mess around with Emulation NAND at all, right? I have not received my R4i Gold Deluxe yet but will soon.

I don't care about anything else (wifi, store connectivity) except playing my game backups. So I don't need emuNAND, yes?

Simply put, I only need to:

    1. crash my DS Profile (grey DS card with the "wood" software),
    2. run the exploit (SD card with latest launcher.dat) and
    3. run my game backup rom (on my white/gold 3DS card.)

But that still just leaves me limited at the current 4.5 firmware on my console, and therefore limited only to my 4.5 fw games, right? What about future games requiring fw 5+ or fw6+ ?

Or do I in fact need emuNAND for higher fw to run those >4.5 games?

Okay, I think I get it now. So with the original R4i firmware 2.0, you cannot play your game backup ROMs with requirements past 4.5 fw (ie., games developed with SDK5+). With the recent R4i firmware 3.0, you can now play all your game ROMs except Pokemon X/Y and AC:NL (due to NAND-based saves).

So the new R4i firmware 3.0 somehow spoofs the higher requirements required by SDK5+ games or negates the fw check altogether...

...and emuNAND is just another, alternate way to present a workable, simulated fw you can use to satisfy higher fw prerequisites. So emuNAND is a separate option from the original, default spoofing done by the R4i firmware?

Hehe, of course I defer to the GW team; all credit is to them. Yes, I wish I could have afforded their original product over the cheaper R4i knock-off. Anyways, glad I got the overall concept worked out though, thanks.
