Hardware No 10.8 yet: maybe no more Stability™ [Discussion]

Is anyone else surprised 10.8 hasn't been pushed yet?
I think there's a chance Nintendo has either decided to stop updating the FW or put 10.8 on the back-burner for these reasons:

• Rumored cease of Wii U production and upcoming NX (Shifts Nintendo's priorities and the NX may have a replacement for the 3DS)
• The only entrypoints possible are Cubic Ninja (unpatchable and rare), Smash Bros ("complicated setup," uncommon and N3ds only) and Ocarina of Time (Secondary exploit)
• Nintendo Selects did not patch OoTHax

I think Nintendo feels the current update makes homebrew difficult enough and plans to focus on the NX. Any thoughts? Maybe something I missed?

I actually am pretty shocked. I was expecting an update before this month ended. Unless they are testing to make sure this one is "more stable" or maybe trying to remove A9LH.

This thread is not useful because nobody can predict the future, and no Nintendo employee will give out this information on some random forum.

There won't be a 10.8 update because Nintendo knows that it's either you rate something out of 10/10 or 8/8. So, they don't want to break all those rating systems. They'll have stabilized the 3DS all for nothing and everything will come crashing down. My uncle works at Nintendo if you're wondering how/why I know this.

I always hope they'll release an update to use the Nintendo Account instead of stupid friend codes on the 3DS so we can be friends with Wii U people and not have to deal with that crap.

Yup you can start using the points to buy stuff/ get discounted on the eshop.

Don't think that's likely. IIRC someone was talking about how either the old FC system was hardcoded into the system or it's too far in use for nintendo to change the 3ds friend system now. Something like that.

Reason 1 is flat out false. Nintendo issued an official statement denying that they were ceasing Wii U production almost a week ago.

The other two reasons are hardly definitive proof.

Wasn't that because they screwed up something that deleted saves for some people and they had to quickly patch it?
