Nintendo's Switch 2024 Year in Review is now available

2024.png

If you were curious about your gaming habits from the last year, Nintendo has put out its annual wrap up page that lets you see what collection of games you sunk a lot of time into on the Switch. The stat page shows you what month you played the most in, what your most played games were, and other reflective info--assuming your Switch is tied to a Nintendo account. Did you wind up playing a lot of new releases this year when they launched, or did you burn through your backlog?

It's not like there wasn't anything exciting. The Zelda game, Mario Party, lots of ports/remasters, third party support rocked. But this is a real EoL feeling year of support. I didn't pick up my Switch for a single exclusive.

can't even read it unless you sign in. typical pathetic nintendo locking all their shit behind a nitenDUMB account couldn't care less whats in there.
Are you being purposefully dense?

How would you get your wrap up without logging in?
Same thing as in Steam, Reddit or Pornhub.
They need to know who the user is so they can give game suggestions at the end of it.

I finally got around to using my switch regularly this year, and I had blast playing with it. Played through tiny backlog I had for system, also beat Mario Odyssey (first Mario game I've ever beaten believe it or not), and currently playing BOTW (about halfway through game).

Shoutout to random game I played and loved named "The blind prophet". its point and click adventure, and while game is short and certain parts of if almost feel like demo, I enjoyed the hell out of that game. The art style is the best I've ever seen in game, and dialogues made me laugh out often. had special time with this one, I wish it was longer and with deeper story.

2024 was the least exciting in my opinion.
No real AAA games. That tiny spinoff zelda does not count as a AAA game. Its only a recycled Links Awakening engine Game of Thing.
But its not really nintendos fault. Every console had no real banger for me this year.
Lets hope that 2025 gets better.

Buddy.

Come on, I understand your hate for Nintendo, but don't let it stop you from reading the topic.

You know I’m okay with Nintendo being more laid back this year. 2023 was like super duper ultra mega deluxe triple supreme combo cwazy for the company, with one big game coming out each month, and the Mario Movie, and having something like that happening again would be overwhelming, you need to die the hype down of your 7 year console in order for the general audience to gain new hype of the Switch 2.

And not to say this year was bad in any mean (If we ignore the copyright stuff)
We got Peach’s Showtime which was fun
TTYD remake I fucking love you
Echoes of Wisdom while nothing groundbreaking (Or even great) was still something fresh and unique and I can’t say it was an inmemorable experience
Our dreams came true with the return of Mario and Luigi (Which IS a good game)

I say this year was a 7/10 for Nintendo

But Honestly, I think SEGA was actually better than Nintendo this year if taking that to account,

And just like modern gaming, I had barely played any Switch game! It's not becsuse that theyre bad or anything, but it did take Nintendo up for this time for me to actually care about the system with a new WarioWare tbat plays like the classic entries, a Paper Mario RPG, the Legend of the Seven Stars Remake, Mario and Luigi, and whatnot. All Im hoping for is even better from them once the switch successor releases cause thats when I'll start appreciating them more.

Edit: to give the people who said that Nintendo produced the least amount of games this year, let's remind you of the most important titles released this year:

Mario & Luigi: Brothership
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (This counts as a new Zelda game for those that call it the long lost Oracle Game)
Emio - The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club (The new IP everyone was thinking about and everyone immediately dropped it)
Luigi's Mansion 2 HD (most forgettable LM entry)
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Remaster (A Paper Mario RPG on the Switch)
Princess Peach: Showtime! (Second princess peach game that once again everyone dropped)
Mario vs. Donkey Kong remake (that one mario game the modding scene remembers for it using the same engine as Mario Wonder)

I'm replaying Odyssey again and damn, I can't imagine Nintendo ever coming close to making a sequel that good.

I haven't touched my switch in over a year, not because of the lineups but due to the poor hardware that limits the games released.

I've actually found my PC emulates the games I want to play much better than on the actual hardware. I still buy the games, don't get me wrong, but they stay sealed on a shelf whilst I sail the seas for a better user experience.

Odyssey isn't exactly a sequel, the only 3D Mario game that got a direct sequel was Super Mario Galaxy 2.

And on that note, I think Galaxy 2 is far superior to Odyssey both as a sequel and as a game on its own merits, the art direction in that game is sublime, levels are the right size, varied enough and fun to replay. Odyssey is like a giant unreal engine puke compared it, it has good controls but it is overall quite bland and has overwhelming amount of filler collectables and useless objectives.

Most of the people commenting here are really outing themselves as needing therapy. Or literally any other hobby to occupy their apparent vast free time. Sit down and breathe, guys.

Give us switch fucking 2 Nintendo!

Stop being a dick tease.

Relax. They're not being a 'dick tease,' they're literally working on it. Like are you for real? Do you expect them to release it tomorrow? Or do you just expect the world to work exactly the way YOU want it to? Yeesh

    imagine importing food
  • RedColoredStars @ RedColoredStars:
Its candy. And people do it all the time with candy, sodas, chips/crisps, etc. that arent availabe in their country
  • RedColoredStars @ RedColoredStars:
Like Lays, Pepsi, Kit Kats, etc. other countrys have many flavors that others dont have. Only way to get them is import or a place that sells snacks from other countries. It's very, very common.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@RedColoredStars, Maybe not so close from where I live
  • RedColoredStars @ RedColoredStars:
Green Tea KitKats in the US? Nope. Strawberrys and Milk Pepsi? Nope. Lay's Japanese Sesame Hot Pot flavored chips? Nope.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@RedColoredStars, I mean that I don't know any imported food store nearby
  • RedColoredStars @ RedColoredStars:
There are tons of things that have different flavors available depending on region. It's kinda fun to try stuff from other places.
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
Imagine importing food? Are you Amish or something
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Aldi grocery stores import most of they foods. I don't shop there anymore but remember way back going there and getting green beans in a can, and it had sticks in it, from Brazil irc. I'm surprised they are permitted to cause it not FDA approved/ inspected
