Iwata just confirmed how many Wii and DS games Nintendo is working on. It is none other than staggering...

    Sure

April 27, 2007 - Satoru Iwata, president of Nintendo, has said the company is developing 124 games for Wii and DS and that the next batch of Nintendo games will be released in "late summer".

There are currently 45 titles in development for Wii and a staggering 79 games in the works for DS. Among those games are big hitters like Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Mario Galaxy for Wii and DS titles, including The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and Chibi Robo Park Patrol.

    Edit: beat me shaun [IMG]

I just hope all the wii games arn't being released in the USA first, then europe has to wait 6 months for them. Although some will work on a modchip. It about time the wii had a few more games. Only about 30 have been released in europe so far and the wiis been out for 5 months.

Not exactly exciting news is it, I mean 45 titles of which we know nothing about, and they will probablyt be realsed over the lifetime of the wii. Not very staggering, I expect Sony have more titles than Ninty in the works, but unless you can put names to the games, then it's not very interesting - I expect some will get canned during development.

It is considering Nintendo dont usually do this much. Sony may have more but majority of them will be mediocre at best, a Nintendo developed or published game is always worth a look.

My only fear is that the quality of the games may not be as good with them focusing on so much.

It will probably include all the first and second party dev's aswell, and they just bought Monolith.

Really, awesome! Now maybe we'll finally see some decent first person shooters on the Wii!

    And am I the only one who thought Chibi Robo sucked balls? I mean... a game about tidying up?! >_>;

I doubt it - in the entire lifetime of the PSX sony developed less than 45 games, not many more for ps2 (maybe a slight exaggeration downwards, but you get my point).

Wrong Monolith, they bought Monolith Soft the Japanese company that made games like Xenosaga and Baten Kaitos.

Lol opps, yeah I was just on IGN and read 'Nintendo Acquires Xenosaga Developer' and thought oooh maybe they meant the other Monolith!

Still good news though! If Nintendo are now publishing their games that means there's actually a chance of seeing more of their stuff localised for the US and Europe - would be cool to see Namco x Capcom on the Wii or DS in English or heck anything Xenosaga out in Europe (#2 was the only one to be released over here!), in reality though it probably just means Disaster Day of Crisis and Baten Kaitos Wii, but I live in hope.

Games we know they are working on:

    Wii:
    Mario Galaxy
    Battlion Wars II
    Mario Strikers Charged
    Untitled Kirby Game
    Project H.A.M.M.E.R
    Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree
    Donkey Konkey Jet
    Animal Crossing
    Wii Music
    Mario Party 8
    Pokemon Battle Revolution
    Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
    Disaster: Day of Crisis
    Forever Blue
    Wii Health Pack
    Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn
    n-Space Wii project
    Wii Motor Sports (Airplane)

So thats 18 of them, a couple have been released in Japan but are being localised so not sure if they are included. Also we know Mario Kart is rumoured to be in the works but nothing official has been said.

    DS:
Burn! Hot Blooded Rhythm Soul! Ouendan 2
    Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
    Kurikin Nano Island Story
Strengthen Your Visual Power through Practice: DS Visual Training
    ASH
    Bimoji Training
    Pokemon 2007 Version A
    Pokemon 2007 Version B

So 17 there, again some out in Japan so not sure if they are included.

I really hope n-Space's next project is a sequel to Geist. That game was simply awesome despite a few flaws. It was definately a sleeper hit.

Geist had some brilliant ideas, some very nice touches but the framerate just did it in when things got busy.

I hope there is a sequel they could iron out the flaws and add online,I loved persession deathmatch!
