Nintendo Wii Images were a big Fake, More Security Info

A hacker mailed in to let us know that those so called 'leaked Wii game images' were indeed fake. Interestingly he believed a Wii DVD can not be dumped at the moment as of course the discs are encrypted but its unkown if a unique key system is being used.

Hacker's info on Wii game discs

    - Same Protection spirit as on Gamecube : Barcode / Encryption
    - Wii DVD's are encrypted but unkown if it uses a xor key like on gamecube or if it's another system or/and unique per game key
    - Wii DVD's can not be dumped currenrtly as it's not possible to run homebrew on the machine and dump them on storage devices or through local networks

I knew it!!! Wii wont be that easy, just look at the GC took a long time to crack that.

Pretending they're "fake" is discutable considering the fact that no one has ever got their hands on these files...
If these were to be true, then I'd like to remind you of the existence of the WiiClone tools & Wii Protection information thing. That could be useful.

Anyway, thanks for the heads up.
    And before someone mis-interprets it:
You mean the BBA/PSO exploit isn't possible on the Wii right?

That is correct. PSO can not go online on the Wii. There is no way to use BBA features on the Wii, since GC backwards compatibility does not simulate the BBA.
Additionally, if it was possible to use other expliots like SDLoad (currently chances of that are no, someone on Maxconsole tested a Freeloader which didn't work) you still don't have the BBA for disc ripping.

Without any proof, I agree with everyone who says these are fake.

One part of me says "I knew Nintendo was´nt so stupid" while another part says "I´m sad, I wanted to know if I could get the Wii version of Zelda TP to run on a gamecube".

Of course they're fake, the 'releases' are just for attention.

even if the Wii games are secured, someone can manage to dump them by some way ...

Right, they have been out for 5 days yet nobody has been able to get their hands on even a single file. Nobody else finds this unusual? [IMG]

Costello and the rest of the GBAtemp crew, where are you getting this kind of information? And, where did you hear about this WiiClone program?

You don't mean you may play them on another VC right? IGN states that you may transfer the files BUT you won't be able to execute them on another VC. Illogical I know.
