Katsuya Eguchi, game designer and manager at Nintendo EAD, has told gaming publication EGM that Nintendo are hoping that the casual crowd that bought into the Wii will return for the company’s forthcoming Wii U console. Apparently Nintendo are striving to satisfy both the causal and the hardcore crowd with the Wii U. Let’s hope they succeed.[/p]

So you expect 40 year old moms that play Wii Sports to be core gamers?

    Now that's really stupid.

What does "core gamers" even mean? I get "hardcore gamers", but not how that distinguishes from this. And while I think that the wii u can serve both markets, it will most certainly not be with the same sort of games.

*can already see how in the next sports game, a bunch of miis interlude the game at times to inform the user what terms like "gg", "stfu" and "rtfm" actually mean*

A good idea in a marketing point of view, but everything depends on the games released for the console. If there aren't any games that appeal to the "hardcore" gamers, why would they buy the new WiiU? :I

I'd like to see the WiiU succeed in getting a bit more games than just motion control with the new screen and such. Also games that actually aren't a letdown compared to the PS3/360 alternatives [IMG]
