Since the secretive and somewhat controversial release of Virtual Boy Hyper Fighting (Street Fighter II), those lucky enough to have acquired 2 carts have sought to test out the 2-player versus mode. The Virtual Boy Link Cable project was originally re-inspired after an official prototype VB link cable was discovered. However, the process of bringing a working prototype to life has remained an DIY project until now. The newest person to pick up the project has publicly announced that the release of a working VB 2-player link cable is closer than we think. This news does come with a caveat, 2 carts are required for 2-player gaming. Thankfully this too may no longer be an issue as the creator of the FlashBoy [Richard Hutchinson] has just posted that a cart-only, 2nd printing of Virtual Boy Hyper Fighting is well in the works.

It's homebrew. Which is much cooler.

you can grab the demo from here: https://filetrip.net/oldies-downloa...hyper-fighting-virtual-boy-demo-1-f32317.html

there is also a recent hack floating about that unlocks characters in the demo.

the CIB release consisted of 75 carts which sold for $150 ea. everyone interested was allowed the option to buy 2 carts (because of the 2-player mode), and no more. since then they have popped up on eBay and at gaming events. I've seen them from $500-$1200 ea. the game was a commission by Ben Stevens, and it is a "homebrew" and not an official Capcom release. I've played it, it is pretty amazing. even the 3D depth of field came out really well.

This is nice to see these sort of unofficial things coming on dead platforms :P

Too bad I don't own a Virtual Boy, nor do I plan to get one, for now.

This makes me curious to know what status VB emulation is at on the 3ds right now.

    Between insane and insecure
Seeing Another World's thread on the main page is a very welcomed blast from the past. I am happy to see you are still around.
As for the news on hand, I am also happy to see the VB still has a following.

It's funny how someone is doing this but we still don't have GBM -> GC cables. Nevertheless, congrats to whoever is doing it :)

And then sony copied this console and created the PS VR. :hrth:

Just like how they used Adobe premiere to copy Xbone X footage to claim it as their own.:whip:

On topic? Watching the game play video is actually impressive. It seems to work fairly decently, even on such limited hardware.

Can't say that even this entices me to consider it. That's mostly because the glaring red always gave me a bad headache.

I remember wanting one of these on release day, the store had a display running. Gave me a headache after a few minutes. That was that. Still cool they are developing for it.

Same here. I think it is still not a Priority with RetroArch. But it has been a while since I Updated it on my N3DS. Could be better now hopefully.

So when console makers screw up a console we have to make it better...? Why even bother making homebrew for the thing, i wonder. I can still feel the red inside my eyelids.

The Virtual Boy has a flashcard? Then there is hope for all consoles.
