Today my switch v1 screen got burnt. It happened after I put it into sleep mode while playing a game in handheld mode, to leave it for a while. When I wanted to play again, I was surprised to find that my switch screen was burnt (or whatever it was) and would need to be replaced.

My question is, if it has been replaced, is there a way to avoid screen burns again when using handheld mode? I know that v1 is the first release model which is even considered old, but come on, Switch screens seem to be very susceptible to burning. Even more prone than my 3ds and DSi. Because the price of the screen is also not cheap, around IDR 390k (about $25) and if with the installation cost it will increase 2x (about $45-$50). So does changing the paste solve this problem? In the country where I live, screen problems on NS often appear especially on NS Lite and v1. I'm not really sure if the cause is due to heat on the NS console or not. Thank You

These are not screen burns but just loose connections or loose ribbon cables.
If you are lucky, just putting in the ribbon cable should solve this.
Sometimes it's a loose connetor or a loose connection inside the display.
A good repair shop can fix that as well for you.

Leaving your Switch out in direct sunlight is what is causing optical issues as the UV light of the sun affects the plastic in it.
If you take care of that, then your screen should last for ever.

You believe burn in happens when the screen is off? That's not how burn in happens & that isn't burn in.

Thank you for responding to this thread.

I see, I'm not sure what the correct term is for a screen like this. But in my country many people had the same problem and had to replace their screens. If I may know, what is the correct term for this? I think it's because it overheats so it affects the screen. Just now when I took it apart to see if the LCD flex cable was the cause, the paste inside was also very dry.

I've tried repositioning the LCD flex cable, but the screen is still in that condition. I'm not sure why either, but my technically savvy friend said that if the problem is with the flex cable, the screen will just flicker. I'm not sure either, since before entering sleep mode my switch is known to bump my phone quite hard. Maybe it's just unlucky and the age of my switch is quite old, considering it's a v1 model.

if the Vcc is on but Vled is off, burn-in effects still occur. reasons are contamination of the LC, higher temperatures and above all a poorly balanced Vcom voltage. however, as you have already made clear here, the image does not show image sticking. so my monologue is more of an academic nature :)
