Nintendo Switch Online gets four new SNES games this month

Nintendo has just dropped four new classic games onto the Nintendo Switch Online service. These four titles are all Super Nintendo games, adding to the available repertoire. Headlining the games is Battletoads Double Dragon, alongside Big Run, Cosmo Gang: The Puzzle, and Kunio-kun no Dodgeball da yo Zen'in Shūgō! All four games are playable now, and if you haven't heard of them before, have snippets of gameplay viewable in the reveal trailer above.

These are anything but classic SNES games.
Barely remember Battletoads nowadays, and the rest is pretty lame.

Now when the pranksters ask for Battletoads you can offer to sell them a membership to Nintendo online to fulfill their wildest dreams.
No, TRADEWEST.
TRADEWEST dreams.

I'm not a NSO subscriber (or Switch owner) so have to imagine how it feels to get a few random under-the-radar SNES ROMs legally tossed my way every so often.. and you know what - it's ok.

The emulation is ok, the games are ok. The service in general is ok considering Nintendo could probably get away with being stingier and meaner than they are in these nakedly dystopic times.

Why don't they just add DS/3DS to the NSO or make a deal like the one they already have with sega for the Saturn and Dreamcast ?

Nintendo just keeps underwhelming me. Four games I've never heard of. No Gamecube or Wii. I've already setup my 3DS to play most my SNES games, and the Switch Online emulator is just so bare-bones I have no reason to use it. I still have Switch Online exclusively for the purpose of playing with friends, and not for any of this. I hope the successor to the Switch does better than this. Also where are the regular Pokemon games in Switch online? Why don't we get those?

Problem is, you only get to keep the games if you keep paying the sub.

In the Wii and Wii U they actually sold you the games.

Holy damn. For once, I am happy to have Battletoads vs Double Dragon officially. That game was an incredible experience for me as a child. I remember playing Double Dragon 1 and 2 in the NES, also Battletoads on arcade, NES and Game Boy. And to see these two together for the first time, it was a blast!!!

Nowadays, crossovers are even in the breakfast cereal :glare: but back then, it was like a dream.

I even have that game injected to play it. It is the only one I am expecting.

Oh good, the 16-bit version of Battletoads Double Dragon with the broken hitboxes that make the game significantly harder/damn near impossible with out good luck, rather than the objectively better 8-bit version that has none of those issues, just what we needed...

Note: It's one of my favourite games of all time, so to get the worst version sucks, even the Mega Drive/Genesis version would be better because at least it has some exclusive music even it still has the broken hitboxes.

Welp, battletoads x double dragon is a good time but, those others I mean, if your curious I guess.

Wonder if theres someone out there who gets a switch with no games and only NSO (not plus) subscriptions.
Least they get some battletoads.
