As of January 28, the long awaited next Nintendo Switch firmware has landed. Version 7.0.0 has been released and according to the notes, this update officially adds only minor features, such as six new New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe profile icons, Chinese, Korean, and Taiwanese language support which was already revealed to be in this update, and the obvious general stability improvements. If you are a homebrew user, as always, stay on lower firmware until more information is available. Reswitched's SciresM claims that this update changes the way TSEC firmware is used for secure boot, along with changing keys.

Additionally, there is a new Joy-Con update for both the right and left controllers, though no specifics are noted on Nintendo's official website.

Improvements Included in Version 7.0.0 (Distributed 01/28/2019)
  • Select from six new New Super Mario Bros.™ U Deluxe icons for your user
    • To edit your user icon, head to your My Page > Profile on the top left of the HOME menu
  • Added additional language support to the HOME Menu for Chinese, Korean, and Taiwanese
    • To change the language, head to the System Settings > System > Language
  • General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience
