But here's the problem. Without Max and Gary about (Primarily Max but not Gary anyway...), the crew at TX that makes the updates aren't getting paid, thus we won't be seeing any update from Team Xecuter at all.

Um, the developers are not in prison.

How is not designed just to hurt developers? OSX is to play pirated games, there's no ifs buts or maybes, that has been there selling point from day one.

Other than having an entry point for Linux and File Server/Save Data backup, what homebrew exactly is worth using on Switch that can't already be done on a cell phone? If any answer includes emulation, you've entered piracy territory. If it's to play an open source game, you've robbed Nintendo of whatever licensing fee the developer would have had to pay to release that game on their platform. The argument can be made homebrew hurts Nintendo as well.

Btw, since when is Gary a developer? He doesn't do any development whatsoever on Nintendo switch. Only tests.

Are you saying Atmosphere gets better treatment from Nintendo because they didn't implement the XCI loader? I would have guessed that's because it's harder to sue a project which is not making any money.

Because atmosphere doesn't charge money and technically it doesn't attack any copyright of Nintendo. Ninty knows it's there's, knows about this forum and should absolutely know about piracy, yet the devs of AMS are strictly against piracy. I guess big N does watch them with a hot eye and until know gave them a pass.

You're one of the few that seems to get it. These projects are harder to come down on just by being on Github. If each project hosted their files on their own personal sites, it would require ad revenue and donations to keep the sites functional. Nintendo would see that as monetizing and would crack down on it like it has several other projects and websites in the past. Atmos devs aren't being benevolent by stating their stance against piracy, they are simply following what MAME team and several other emulation projects have been doing for decades now to avoid prosecution. MAME has never been sued because it has never supported any arcade game that would be considered 'current' and Atmos is simply doing the same thing by not outright enabling backup support on a system that is still 'current'. As is, the ability to do so already exists it is just not released to the public nor should it be.

Um that has nothing to do with it. Money is what's the hold up. If developers aren't paid, then they won't release jack.

Emulation does not imply piracy. I emulate my own game backup, which is 100% legal in my country. The emulator themselves are not infringing any copyright if they don't use proprietary code. This is ironic, since you seem to be for the Linux entry point, but that is literally an emulator (or might be a VM, but the difference between one and the other is very trivial).

As for what homebrew offers? The turnip analyser for Animal Crossing is nice. Media players are always welcomed. As you said, FTP and save management is great, Linux and Android emulator is also nice.
