Nintendo Switch 2 Direct - Launches June 5. $449.99 price
Soon, Nintendo will be bringing us the highly-awaited Nintendo Direct, focused solely on the Switch 2 console. The stream will begin at 6am PT/9am ET/15:00 CEST/1pm GMT. Tune in to the official broadcast to see a full hour of Switch 2 content, or keep an eye on this thread, where we'll summarize all the announcements that get made. It all starts with a brand new Mario Kart game. Tons of new tracks are shown. We get parkour karts that can wall jump like Mario himself. Mario Kart World. Exclusive to the Switch 2. There will be weather and climate conditions. You can drive anywhere you want in an open world. There are 24 characters, the most in any Mario Kart yet.
Free roam mode lets you explore the tracks to find new shortcuts. It will be a launch title. A Direct will air April 17 to show more.
Next is a feature for the Switch 2. The elusive C button. Voicechat feature similar to Discord. It's for chat. The Joy-Cons pick up your voice well, supposedly. You can share your gameplay to friends over it as well. It's almost exactly like Discord in appearance. You can switch the sizes of your friends screens or pick whichever one to feature as largest on your TV. There will be a Switch 2 camera for greenscreen-style video calls. You can capture your face as an avatar for Mario Party. GameChat.
Next is more GameShare. It will only work for select titles.
There will be a 7.9 inch screen. Tablet is 1080p. 120fps gameplay support. HDR as well.
The Joy-Cons are magnetic this time. The SL SR buttons are bigger, as are the analogue sticks. You can use the Joy-Cons as a mouse, too. 3D audio will be a feature for headphone users.
The stand is better, with the u shape design. There's two USB C ports now.
256GB standard storage.
Dock has 4K support. The dock will also cool the Switch 2.
Switch 1 games are compatible, both physical and digital.
Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour is a tech demo game that shows off all the new features of the Switch 2. It lets you fully test out the new additions and discover the potential of the console. It's a paid digital game.
Game cards will be bright red. Better read speeds. You need MicroSD Express cards for the Switch 2, otherwise they won't work.
Switch 2 Pro Controller has back buttons and an audio jack.
It launches June 5.
There's three game types. Switch 1 games, Switch 2 games, and improved original Switch games with upgrades. Super Mario Party Jamboree gets it, with camera support on Switch 2. Bowser Live will have you play games that have Kinect-like full body tracking and motion controls. New minigames, too. Jamboree TV will include the extra features, and it will launch July 24. You can upgrade by buying an upgrade pack, but only if you're an NSO subscriber.
Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are getting improved versions with better visuals and framerate. This version also comes with a guide version to help players.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land gets a Star-Crossed World expansion. Also Switch 2 edition.
Metroid Prime 4 Beyond will use mouse controls on Switch 2. 4K60 or 1080/120fps modes.
Pokemon Legends Z-A too.
If you own the original games, you can buy upgrade packs to get the Switch 2 versions.
Next is a game called DragXDrive where you play as wheelchair-robots playing basketball. Summer 2025. JoyCons mouse controls will play a big part.
Elden Ring is coming to Switch 2. 2025.
