Really apple vs orange here consider botw doesn't have Pokemon and have to reuse a dozen enemy models to begin with.
Yeah because I'm sure a 5 fps chingling sprite would cost a lot of power
More seriously, the thing is that BoTW's art style is just ... made better. Legends Arceus just looks washed out. Honestly I get that the game would look more « cold », it's fine and it does suits the environnement of the game, but there's 0 work with the lights, the water looks ugly asf, same for the trees, no shadows too. It definitely deserved more. Remember that Hyrule Warriors dips below 30 fps because it has a lot of effects happening, same for BoTW, and sure stable 30 fps is good enough, but I don't see any GREAT ACTION BOOM WAOUW stuff happening like in Hyrule Warriors so with better lights, shadows, etc, I don't see how it would have affected the framerate, other games do it constantly.
Besides the graphic aspect, honestly it genuinely looks cool. I like the fact that they changed the rules of the fighting system. I would have LOVED a more « action-style » but I get that it would upset those who prefer the turn based system, so I'm fine with that. I like how you can interact with wild pokemons tho I'll also wait to see gameplay and play myself to see if they aren't dumb as hell. I like how they show the way of being able to fly or swim with Pokemons and travel, looks pretty nice, and finally I do like the fact that they added a crafting system, and I hate crafting most of the time, but in such a game it does suits very well.
All in all, I'm glad they are trying something new. I'm just sad it looks so fucking bad, but it could still be a good game and I hope it will be. Saying that this is « bare-bones » isn't true, they obviously got out of their way to try something new and that's obvious to me even as a « hater », but for now they still seem incapable of doing something great « technical-wise », which is a shame, but that's not all there is into a game, let's not judge the product just because it looks ugly, we need to be fair.
Tho I will get mad if the game isn't stable at 30 fps, I do hope they aren't cheating with the trailers like Hyrule Warriors, but even if it does I don't care too much I'll play on Yuzu anyway and it'll be better
Yeah you know what, screw that, it's ugly af and I forgot that it wasn't even open, it's hub based and they even tried to make up like « oh but we never said it was open, duh, not our fault you thought it would be » and they have huge means, they could do something way better but that's better than what we've been accustomed to. So, I guess we could say they just got a little bit LESS lazy, they obviously started trying some stuff.
I'm still more hyped about the Tencent clone, not joking, watch that and tell me that doesn't look like what Pokemon should look like
(the game is called Roco Kingdom and is aimed towards mobile)
