Guys you can relax, the moment this nintendo dies a new one shall rise and nintendo consoles live forever

That may not be far off, considering how bad the Wii U is doing. Seriously, what were they thinking? The only good game on the horizon is Super Smash Bros, and it's going to be a multi-platform game anyway, so I'll just get the 3DS version.

The WiiU is actually a pretty good console. The real problem lies in the lack of good games (or really ANY games at this point), lack of developers (because they see the WiiU as just another Wii, and in EA's case, just complete dicks), lack of advertisement for the WiiU (when it came out in 2012, not single person I knew that is was released), and finally, the NAME, distancing itself from the Wii would have gone better than people thinking the WiiU is just a new Wii console that can play Wii games.

Server error! Now that is scary. Two replies numbered 23.

I am sure more than a few of us have tried to scam a warranty repair or two knowing full well the fault in the device was caused by tampering. You get away with what you can, but sometimes you get caught.

yeah the wii u is pretty decent, the graphics are pretty good, but unfortunately they failed on quite a few point, most people think its just like some wii update, the console looks too similar, the name is too similar, i only just picked one up at Christmas, but its the same problem you mentioned.....there is like 5 games i want to play on it, i think Nintendo needs to pull their fingers out and go on a buisness drive.

they would really benefit from just opening the console up to independent devs' if the big publishers want to be dicks and kiss Microsoft and Sonys butts let them, once some independent devs start making money they will soon come sniffing around....so its either Nintendo has a open season for independent devs to get games on the console or shove money at the big publishers like Sony and Microsoft do

lol you have no idea about business do you? The WiiU isn't selling well. Why would anyone waste development time and money for a console that doesn't have a big established user base? Developers aren't going to make games if there's not a big user base, and people aren't going to buy the console if there aren't a lot of good games. Nintendo would be smart to waive licensing fees for publishers for the next 2 years to entice more of them to make game for it.

Well to be fair, the Xbox One looks like a super fat 360. And I hear the Playstation 4 looks similar to 3 as well. The point is not how they look, but what they can do. Besides, would you have bought a console called the Nintendo U? (which sounds positively awesome in my mind) I must admit playing on the tablet is awesome, which is probably the selling point on the system. And here's where the media comes in. All I heard was that Nintendo had released a new tablet for gaming and I thought, "they must've released a console with it." I was proven right several months later by reading through the general game media sites. I don't pay much attention to Nintendo's advertising campaigns; I rely on IGN and other such foolish ad campaigns.

And another thing: independent developers aren't interested in releasing games for Nintendo; they'd rather make them for Steam and Android because they know people will play them on there. And something about Nintendo pushing money on the developers to release games like Sony and Microsoft are already doing just sounds wrong. It sounds like the mafia hiring the hitmen to do the shootings and bank robberies while the mafia watch over the casinos and prepare wars with different factions.

They have to have something up their sleeve, something to help the Wii U, like a name change, a game that sells like hotcakes, something to curtail the bad sales.

Nintendo doesn't need to do any bricking, Gateway team is already doing that for them

Let's pour some cold water on that burn

I have a funny story about the WiiU actually... my friend, my brother and I went to our Walmart like 4 hours before midnight on launch day expecting there to be tons of people waiting to get one... only one other guy and his son showed up. At midnight we asked them where they were bringing them out and a few of the tech guys didn't even know it was being sold at that time! Finally, someone just dragged them out on a four wheel cart and handed one to my friend haha. Not the huge rush we were thinking of.

It's not that common to have lines when products like phones/consoles/gadgets are released. I personally never saw this except on TV and it's mostly in big cities like New York... My friend bought a Galaxy S4 in Germany on launch and said there was no such thing as a line and that the store had few customers.

Tbh a lot of them queueing outside shops are BS publicity stunts, what makes a false sense of demand like some BS look how desperate people are to buy this.......like the ps4 and xbox one, apparently in short supply, every shop still had them in stock after Christmas so I doubt there was any shortage it's just marketing hype

The Wii U launch at our store was the same way. We had about 20 sitting out on the shelf, and only 2 sold that day.

Xbox Ones we currently have sitting in the middle of the aisle on a pallet and nobody is touching them.

PS4's, however, are sold out within 1 hour of putting them on the floor.

this is more or less a warning that they know of the clone brick and will refuse to fix it if you send it in. Nintendo isn't bricking anything just warning people using unofficial products that it can break your shit.

Even from a non-business standpoint, the Xbox One, PS4, and PC are all running DirectX 11 hardware, while Nintendo decided to release a DX9-only console only about a year out from the next generation. There's just so much more possibility there, not only in terms of graphics, but also aesthetics, physics, scope of level design, etc.

At some point, when they've fallen extremely far behind in technology and internet services, I think Nintendo just intends to call it quits like Sega did. Although I hope that means they keep developing games even once they stop releasing consoles, again like Sega.

Isn't it kinda ironic games now days in consoles use directx? I mean wasn't directx made by Microsoft to lure game devs to the PC platform?

That's not going to be for a while. This Pach Attack episode sums it up nicely.
