It doesn't say are abandoning the Wii U, that's coming from people's own experience with likes of the Wii, DS and GBA. Look how those systems were brushed aside. When their new toy is out that's their primary focus.

Wii U no longer will be the primary focus, he goes on to say NX will be...“a next step in our dedicated device strategy, the core and primary focus of our business.”

To be fair, they aren't outright going to say they will abandon the Wii U, but we all know what's coming.

It's gotten better since the Wiimote+ came out, but it's not exactly in its ideal form to play serious games with it, as it doesn't really have enough buttons. The Wii U Pro controller was an (expensive) step in the right direction

Actually, I found the WiiMote an excellent controller for serious games when used correctly, like with Metroid Prime 3.

Oh, you're right, it was pretty good for games like that I suppose. I was just never a fan of its implementation in games like Skyward Sword

If you're right, then god help us all. Too bad my kids (don't have any yet) won't get to grow up on Nintendo games.

I don't know how long the world can take endless online shooters and selling 20% finished games with ridiculous paywalls for the remaining 80% of content. Won't be long though before it all crashes down. The higher the dev costs, the tighter they squeeze with their DLC, until everybody just up and shakes their head, and walks away, boom. Video Game Crash 2.0.

I'm somewhat liking him too but the direction Nintendo's going is for free to play (Freemium), mobile games, paywall games and NFC toys.

Iwata didn't wanna give up on it outright. No matter how bad it got. Not like Sony and the Vita.

Also, you can't blame Nintendo for adapting. Gamers of the western world kept bashing them for sticking to their archaic ways and not keeping up with the west. That's where the money is. People keep saying they don't like all these shit, but then they all kept paying for these shit anyways.

Did he say anything about the Wiimote and touchscreen specifically or are people putting words into his mouth? Especially because it is looking like we are getting another touchscreen controller. I'm pretty sure he is only talking about branding.


Also, can't wait to pay $60 for just the intro of Zelda U...
