Since when does being a new IP mean no chance of being a best-seller? I think Splatoon is shooting itself in the foot for other reasons, but that's a different story.
We'll wait and see then. New IP's don't tend to be massive best-sellers right out of the gate, they have to build a reputation before they start being gems in someone's crown. Even if it does well, it won't do
"as well" as Pokemon or Smash which are the two games that helped Nintendo make a profit, can we at least agree on that?
Because my crystal ball says so. Seriously though, it's because XC bombed, XC 3DS is currently bombing and XCX will probably come out accompanied by the sound of tumbleweeds.
According to who? If anything, Nintendo has said at least a couple times that they're actively looking into multiple Metroid games in the future. That doesn't mean it's happening this year, but "it's not happening" is a pretty big stretch. Besides, there's also Retro's secret project. Granted it was DKC last time they said that, but that means that the chances of it being DKC this time is essentially nonexistent, leaving only Metroid, or something else entirely. Personally, I'll be very surprised if we don't hear anything about Metroid this year, even if it doesn't release until later.
The context of this conversation is 2015. I would be very happy to see a Metroid game on either the Wii U or the 3DS, but it's not happening
in 2015, the year we're talking about.
Most Telltale games say "hi." Besides, iirc Miyamoto said that the storyline might be episodic in nature ("like a serial"), not that the game itself would be released episodically.
Telltale games are exceptions from the general rule, but I'll give you that. We'll wait and see.
What part of "we have unannounced games coming out this year" is considered "nothing else"?
If they're unannounced, they're not arguments in a debate. Don't waggle a schrodinger's cat in front of my face saying that they totally have content ready for 2015 - we don't know if they have any and even if they do, we don't know if it's quality content.
I'm not the most optimistic person about Nintendo'c current state of affairs either, but it honestly sounds like you're reaching for much more negativity than there actually is on that front.
I'm sorry for being a realist. They're all pooped out of their best-sellers and I'm yet to see any advanced work on any of their other best-selling franchises, so I can assume the worst for this year.
