Some of those are actually pretty good designs, but they are fake. Unless your blind, you'll notice that it says  Shogmaster. It should say something like  nintendo

yes indeed they are fake, i mean come on man... you could kill your screen, nintendo wouldnt even think of making a screen "outside" the box.

Plus this isnt new... its quite old

I liked the design.. pretty well thought.. adds a new feature and maintain the retro compatibility..

I think multi-touch would, in fact, be the natural evolution for the DS.. but, after the Wii, you really can't tell what Nintendo is preparing for the next generation..

Yeah, even if it was real, it would probably cause so many problems, some of them are just unrealistic and would cause problems worse than the "hinge-crack".

The last one is my favorite.
The others look too fake for words but the last one seems like they put some thought into it.

Rotation = no. Sliders are just as bad, they're not very durable designs and it's far too easy to break the two halves apart if it's dropped or caught at the wrong angle while open.

I've never understood sliding designs really, even in mobile phones. Why choose to protect the buttons but leave the main screen exposed? I'd rather have a clamshell.

My favorite has to be the shogmaster one. Only thing that I'm disappointed with is that there isn't a GBA slot. Every previous nintendo hand held has had backward compatibility, it's hard for me to think that I woun't be able to play my GBA (and maybe even GBC/GB) on my new DS.

Maybe I'm thinking too much into concepts... but I'd still buy these if they were made.

The intention is not to protect the cellphone but to increase aesthetics and comfort, it's much easier to slide open a slider than it is to open a clamshell and both feature similar space saving properties.

Awesome, good work on finding these.

These concept designs look nice and all but I agree with the people here, it ain't practical.

Oh well we can still dream.

The rotation one looks terrible. The glare off a screen that isn't at an angle would be terrible and the controls look horribly uncomfortable.
Nintendo isn't stupid either. They won't make a product that breaks too easily and/or has too many working parts.
Think X-Box 360... repairing all of the defects under warranty would totally kill their profit margin.
Interesting designs there though... I imagine sometime in the future the Chinese will make a knockoff similar to those.

How about the Game Boy Micro?

The turning designs look nice, but I don't think I'd like any design that exposed the screen. Scratches >.>
