Also did Nintendo expand the program to include Switch or is it still just 3DS?

lets hope they were 3ds becuase with 11.4 we're already screwed unless you have CFW so it wouldnt be too bad if the exploits were for 3ds

When did this occur? I feel so far behind just finding out now.

Nintendo is paying people to find exploits in their consoles/sytems.
    They hired 3 people now.

Yeah I'm aware but last I checked it was only for 3DS (and strangely avoiding Wii U.) I mean it should of been obvious that this would be in preparation for Switch, my bad.

I think including the switch was pretty recent. Also
They aren't hiring people they are just telling them exploits then they get payed and the deal is done. I think.

What exactly determines what the exploit is worth? Also Nintendo is in the wrong to disallow backups to be made, basic copyright laws allow for this so I dont know why Nintendo feels they have a higher authority.

I'm assuming that a kernel exploit would be worth more than a userland exploit, but I don't really know. Technically yes making backups is legal but just the ability to backup will make someone start a secret pirating website. It may be legal but there's almost no way to regulate it any better than they have now.

They can regulate it by stopping sites that host them, not disallowing legal backups.

This is like saying guns aren't allowed even though we have the 2nd amendment allowing it. They can't just impose on laws because they feel like it. It's wrong.

Yeah, I know, but almost any company with a system with a big piracy community has tried that and it doesn't work. They'll just rehost it somewhere or put it in google drive lol.

...no, that's not how the Internet works. If Nintendo could just take down all the warez sites like that, don't you think they would have done so by now?

Exactly. And like I said even if they take it down they'll just rehost it somewhere

I didn't say it would stop all piracy forever but it doesn't seem like they even try. There's so many things Nintendo can do to stop piracy but they don't. The only real effort I notice is with the 3DS, pushing updates on a monthly basis, taking down freeshop, etc.

Just believe me when I say that yes. They are trying. It may not be that hard but they are trying.

Require authentication when downloading off CDN, that would stop all PC programs from getting eShop games so easily. Also try harder taking down warez hosting sites, what's the point of reporting them if they aren't going to do shit about it.

The way they left both the Wii and the Wii U to dry doesn't feel like they are trying either. It's been over a year since the Wii U's last update.

But what do I know, I'm just someone looking from the outside in.
