I see post here & there about Nintendo & Wii U having a hard time. there failing.
perhaps Microsoft is paying them so say that. [IMG]
i simply don't think Nintendo is having any dilemma at the moment tho...
we have games like lego city, black ops 2, assassin's creed, injustice, monster hunter, resident evil revelations, need for speed, & games like watch dogs, Mario kart 8, smash bros 4 Wii U, Bayonetta 2, deus ex, x, Project cars, Mario & Zelda games & cod ghost u is coming (& don't you say it isn't, tell me how many cod games were released in the past on Nintendo consoles without being announced.) yea i thought so. [IMG]

anyway if i was in Nintendo's main chair this is how i would run things.
    Wii u:
    1. Firmware Update:
    • Optional stuff - this firmware update would remove the Wii U gamepad as this always connected controller give options to use controller pro & other controllers as main controller without turning on gamepad. would reserve lots of battery.
    • DVD/Blueray - this FW update would also include DVD/ Blueray playback. on the Wii DVD play was possible, through homebrew. someone just doesn't want it done...
    • Distance - also this firmware would increase the distance of controllers if possible.
    • Friend Comes Over - also this update allows ability to log into friends console with NNID if there in your friend list atleast. Nintendo should heed what's happening to Microsoft with the restriction thing. Cloud is a better way of doing this imagine if there in your friend list, you can log in temporarily & temporarily use your save data from your console via cloud. or copying game saves to cloud to use of friends console temporarily only if your console is off tho. or you could take an SD card to friends place & temporarily use your saves.
    • SD card as Wii u mode storage also - this isn't because of storage tho. i have plenty of internal storage on my 32GB wii u tho i download lots. but i 1st thought the SD card storage was for wii u mode also, why not tho? i have a 32GB class 10 card in there but its only limited to Wii mode which i don't see even taking up half of that. & i own loads of Wii games, including Wiiwares. especially when my Wii Virtual Console games start moving to Wii U VC, gonna upgrade those & just have all my save data's & Wiiware. with that being said tho why not unify Wii modes 512MB 512MB memory & the Wii u modes 32GB? why separate partitions?

    2. Hardware releases:
    • New Wii u Gamepad - release a new wii u gamepad pro with back facing camera for AR, higher resolution cameras, better battery, multi-touch, longer signal distance & gorilla glass.
    • WiiMote on/off Switch - add a on & off switch to Wiimotes. im tired of F%$# bumping into a Wiimote or nephew keeps hitting a controller pro while im on black ops 2. -.-
would also save battery my Wiimotes are always usually dead when i take my console to friends placve because buttons press themselves in my bag.
    • Virtual DDR3 - i don't think we seen Wii U full potential yet or even half, devs seem to look past trying to push it for some reason but for those that do. in the past consoles like N64 & DS had expandable ram. what if a USB expandable virtual ram DDR3 type deal was made? expanding the ram to like 8GB total. or atleast 6GB. i mean the Wii U is the only next gen console with 4x UPS ports that is.
    3. i see they were looking into cloud based GPGPU. hmm

    4. local media app - i know Wii U is a gaming console 1st & other stuff 2nd but what bad would that be? Wii had photo channel, it was limited to JPEG, & had MP3 only then after update MP4. & AVI videos i think. with Wii u would be perfect they could just make 1 channel media channel. a file browser for pics, videos, music, ect. like any other browser on pc or android.
also where did the idea to use media in games go? 2 games on Wii used music on SD card during gameplay (excitetruck). after that why did it stop? i would make more. imagine jamming to your own tunes during Smash Bros 4 Wii U & 3DS.

    5. Cross Platform Multiplayer - i would make every game cross platform multiplayer. Smash Bros 4 should be. why isnt it? its possible with monster hunter Wii U & 3DS. bring it to Sonic Lost Worlds, Resident Evil Revelations, SmashBros.

    6. Open a New Studio -
this one may be a stretch but hear me out, i know we have retro studio, & games like Zelda, Metroid.
Nintendo gamers get older over time some of us are in 20's now. what is Nintendo released a studio specifically for releasing rated m games? for instance they ant to release a rated M Metroid orZelda, they can use the Ocerina of time style zelda(not that i think its bad) as they do let this mature studio make the new nextgen zelda.
this way they can still make the games they make but have something for the older audience & also fill the gap when companies like EA/DICE, & a few others want to leave Nintendo's console out.

    hmm anything i miss?

this was typed at like 5am -.- heading to work will fix typos later.

seems you misread some things that i said.

So saving wii u gamepad battery & using the console with pro controller instead of gamepad isn't beneficial?

Well how about a 3rd party or indie make it then. I will make it lol An app. :P

    True

I wasn't taking about loading whole games. I was saying only saves & temporally when your on a friends console.

I see that.maybe over time. it doesnt have to change any inputs tho. for compatibility keep all inputs but for future software add options to use multitouch, & back camera. as wii motion plus & wiimote plus did.

That works for the annoying nephew thing. But what about when going over friends place & my wii u & controllers are in my backpack, buttons pressing themselves trough transit.

Those speeds can be used can they? Or atleast for textures?
update: hmm looked at some specs. from what i found so far.
    wii u RAM internal DDR3 = 12.8GB/s
    USB 2.0 speed = 35MB/s
hmm well it could be used for something right? lol

    • Distance - also this firmware would increase the distance of controllers if possible.
Actually I don't know it is because I just changed my router or it was the update but I did notice an increase in how far my Wii-U goes.
My bedroom is rather large and the walk in closet is in between my TV and the bathroom... Before the update I couldn't watch movies in there. After the update it's no problem!!!
But in the same week or so I did change my router so maybe the old one was junk and causing issues?

While I don't think you can increase the range of the Gamepad with a firmware update, without increasing power consumption, technically Nintendo could release range extenders or repeaters. Or more interestingly, allow for Gamepad play over Wi-Fi (much like Vita's remote play).

I use the" Playon" app to stream movies & .mp3 to my Wii U and it works great. Many times when my wife is watching a movie on the tv I stream a movie to the gamepad with my headphones. Works great!

    1) Make gaems
    2) Put Metroid in the hands of a competent team. Maybe Retro again, or someone new. Sakamoto is not even allowed to watch the development process. He is given the cone of shame.
    3) Music, champagne, and mad money bitches

Put me in, coach, I'm ready!

I didn't get past the part where you felt Nintendo wasn't having a dilemma. Nintendo has admitted they're having problems with the Wii U and have been for several months now. If the company is worried, I'd say "dilemma" isn't a strong enough word.

they had probelems with people thinking the whole wii u is just a controller for wii & advertising it but other then that they seem fine.

    nice is that on pc?
i use this app called HTTP share on android, i tether wifi to my wii u, then share the picture, movie, or music & then go to the http link to open it in wii u browser.

wut? The problems with consumer confusion are a large part of the reason that Nintendo is currently struggling with the Wii U. Do you understand what that struggle is? It's a struggle to move systems. To get sales. The Wii U is selling poorly. There's no maybes where that is concerned. Nintendo has acknowledged the poor sales, and has and is still trying to get more systems out into the hands of people. Developers have acknowledged those poor sales as reason that they won't focus on the system for exclusive game development (see EA and now Ubisoft). Nintendo recognizes that first party titles aren't enough to sell the Wii U, and they're trying damned hard to pull third parties back in.

Most of your suggestions would be at best minor improvements to the currently troubling situation that the Wii U has found itself in. The only one that might even help a little would be the new studio, and even then, that would be an exceptionally large investment that likely wouldn't help unless there was some brilliant new IP stashed away in somebody's brain. Even then, handing the project to a current studio would be a smarter choice.

I kinda wish they'd make like... more mature games.

I do like mature games. I do get sick of Nintendo basically producing the same light and fluffy games for the past 25 years. They have an occasional diversion from this trend but by and large their games don't really evolve a whole lot. Like there's no range. You look at Sony and they're able to push out LittleBigPlanet and The Last of Us for the same console and both of them still do well.

It's not that I don't enjoy light and fluffy games but I'm sick of that being the only thing they produce. I like games that explore complex themes and give real emotion. It's why I stopped caring about Nintendo games so much. I play a Mario game and yeah, it's fun, well designed, all that stuff, but I beat it in a weekend and it's gone. I can spend more time discussing a mature game with my friends than it takes to play a Mario game that I'll never discuss outside of "that Mario game was fun."

Also storytelling. Like they really have this hurdle. They try to tell stories and they usually A) suck or B) are so light that it's not even "subtle" as much as "not trying". Like there's a difference between writing a simplistic story that can still be good and writing a serviceable story. Simple stories can be the best sometimes but "save the princess in the same structure as every other game in this franchise" is not a simple story: it's simply a way to move the gameplay. Which can be fine at times but when it's constant it gets a bit annoying.

    *looks at list*

    Yeah, sure...why not?

While we're at it, here are some more:

    - lower the price to, like, below 100 bucks. Compensate all the early adopters by giving them their pick of 100 free games of their choice (to be picked up in any store).
    - rename the wiiu to something cool. Like "Revolution" or "Taleweaver". Everyone likes a cool name.
    - make games that don't suck! What do you mean, different tastes? A game doesn't suck if I say it doesn't suck. No, I don't know this in advance. And I may change opinions. Jeez...just make those games, already!
    - cross compatibility with the 3DS, DS, GBA and all gameboys. As well as any android devices and apple stuff.
    - a firmware update that'll transform the wiimote controller into one of those automatic vaccuum cleaners on solar power. At the very least, allow it to recharge on solar power. And provide it the ability to climb out of the television and open a curtain, as I'll be too lazy/forgetfull to charge it by itself. It's ecological. Ecological=good.
    - I support that CD, DVD and blueray request. And in fact: allow it to play VHS, tape recorder and betamax as well. That way, I may actually buy some of those things at my local flea market
    - streaming abilities: I want to be able to stream everything from my neary cinema complex to my television screen, using the wiiu. In 3D, if applicable (note: release a firmware for it if the gamepad doesn't yet support glassless 3D).
    - make it compatible with windows, steam, android and iOS games. That'll make sure the thing has plenty of games to play.
-upon release of the PS4 and xbone...release a firmware that'll allow for playing of those games.
    - release a dongle so you can connect your gamepad, wiimote and gamepad pro to your PC. In case of the former: it should stream your monitor to the screen and allow for touchpad functionality.
    - keep releasing the same franchises...but make them more mature-like. How? I don't know. I'm just the guy with the ideas here.
    - get someone INTERESTING to do the directs. Or make Aisha Tyler the CEO, if you insist it has to be done by a nintendo hotshot.
    - increase the range of the wiiu pad to, like...200 kilometers. This way, it'll be pretty much a handheld! :D
    - upon registering your wiiu, you should get your own pick of a hot female or male (but no Chinese...those are ugly lol). This person is to be boxed and shipped to you as your servant for all duties. Including sex slavery, if the registree is older than 18. This'll surely get rid of that "kiddy" image.
    - *sigh* if you really INSIST on being capitalist jerks who have to "make a profit", you can always start a studio that produces and sells drugs. If done on a decent scale and with a proper seal of approval, these should get you some money to fund all of the above. Unless you ALSO want to be legal on everything.

Yeah...I don't get why nintendo is having a hard time either. I mean...simple solutions like these will surely help...right? :P

If you want dark/mature, don't look at Nintendo. Look at the third party's for that. Nintendo has always been, and always will be family friendly. If you haven't figured that out, there's something wrong.

The only good game they tell a good story would be Skyward Sword. It's not just the usual save the princess. It tells a whole story of the inhabitants, the supposed world below, the Goddess. It's really good and you connect with Link and Zelda more. The only problem is, they need more of that.

If I was holding the controller I would poach a few promising dev teams from the other publishers and set them on making more exclusives, but other than that I'd just frolick around on my yacht floating in a pool of my bigger yacht that's sailing on a lake of money.

But it's just kinda bullshitty to say "That's a third party's responsibility"especially considering how shitty third party support is.

The thing is that Nintendo seems to have limited range when it comes to tone. I gave the example of Sony who are able to go from The Last of Us and Killzone to LittleBigPlanet and Wonderbook. The closest Nintendo gets to "mature" is maybe Eternal Darkness and Metroid Prime. Its been 25 years, it's okay to have some franchises grow with the fanbase instead of just being the same thing over and over.

Hell, look at Naughty Dog. They started with a very light and fluffy Crash Bandicoot franchise. That was succeeded by Jak and Daxter, which was darker tonally and generally more of a pre-teen to teen game. Then as they got older, they made Uncharted, which is certainly more mature than them but not incredibly gritty. Now they have The Last of Us, which is brutal, gritty, and quite mature. It's evolution.

I'm not saying Mario needs to go from his normal hop and bop to a gritty dark story line but make new franchises that cater to an evolving userbase.

i think its up to the 3rd parties tho. also some dont like to listen to there customers.
we have companies like ubisoft, & capcom who seems to don't mind & give us good stuff. like zombi u, monster hunter 3, watch dogsassasins creed with all dlc & stuff.
then companies like treayarch who in the middle they release games but don't really try on the graphics(if its a nintendo console) & no dlc or support after that.
then we have others like ea, who release old games with 60$ prices on them & no dlc or anything then whine about it not selling, then force you to join this wierd orgin online service just to get online. (mass effect 3, cough, need for speed u, cough)

i can even remember it happening to nspace a while back with releasing mw3 on DS lol. people were pissed it didnt come to 3ds instead it came to ds so noone bought it. then after that they ran to vita with black ops 2. which sucked even more & noone bought also lol.

we need some developers to open up tho.
quit being shy about releasing games on wii u its just like any other console, 360, ps3, ps4, xb one whatever, it has controllers & a gamepad only difference. & its optional.
we also need new devs. it appears all these old devs are running out of ideas after making games for so long. more war/zombie games. ooo

Seriously I read that as "Watch Dog Assassins" and I had like the best game concept ever in my head.

What do you mean that Treyarch doesn't "try" on graphics on Nintendo consoles? The Wii was pretty gimped and CoD on the system looked pretty decent for the hardware. If you're referring to the Blops II Wii U port, then I think a lot of third party ports at the time were kinda shitty in that realm. Framerate and buffering issues, etc.

Can't think of any old game EA released for $60, they make brand new games y'know and curiously enough they very rarely rehash.

N-Space didn't handle Blops Declassified, that was Nihlistic Software.

It's all politics. There's no denying that the Wii U isn't the most successful console ever. There's also no denying that there has been a strong effort on the part of media to present as many doom and gloom articles as possible for such a short lifespan of a console. Some sites are more persistent about it than others. Some just have personal agendas much a like sports fan of a certain team does. Others, like IGN, are most likely persuaded by advertisements, promotions, and the like. Take into consideration a game like Black Ops getting a 9.3 rating and a game like Metro Last Light only getting a 7.2 but fans would actually vote them to be the other way around.

Personally, I'd like to see every console succeed. Unfortunately, it seems that the only way for a console to succeed now days is through attrition. Which would mean that a console wouldn't thrive so much on it's positives, but rather, to the detriment of other consoles. Mi¢rosoft's blunder is the most recent example of that. Mi¢rosoft did more to boost $ony and Nintendo's sales than they could have ever done for themselves.

Then there's other console fanboys and just flat out Nintendo haters who spend a considerable amount of time campaigning for a console or against Nintendo. If you follow peoples posts long enough you can distinguish between them. For example, those who make posts saying Nintendo is dead but make other posts saying that the Vita has a chance even though it's been out a year longer. Or you have those who say that the Game pad is a stupid idea but using the Vita for the same thing is the best idea to happen since Newton's apple. Of course you also have the jockeying of developers.

There's the developers who love the idea of DLC and DRM who will come out and use any reason not to develop but that. A good example of that is when EA says things like Nintendo is crap, last gen, underpowered, or just too difficult to develop for. You can spot that out when they change their minds and say that all Nintendo has to do is sell more consoles and they'll develop for it, which pretty much negates all the previous excuses they had made.

It's all about understanding the politics, being able to read between the lines, and the perception of it. I see somebody mentioned that Nintendo seems worried. I haven't gathered that all about Nintendo. To me, they seem more relaxed right now than anything. Especially with their recent issue of statements like there will be no price drop, that they firmly believe their first party titles will drive up sales, and that they don't care what other companies are doing.

In the end you have to make up your own decisions based on your own experience and not rely so much on what people would have you belief. Especially when so many seem to have an agenda.

I dont understand. Are you just saying what everyone has wanted in the console since the first peeks into the specs, or are you actually saying something?
