Nintendo Indie World Showcase - April 14, 2021 - roundup

Get ready for some brand new indies, with the latest Indie World Showcase. A live stream dedicated to purely independent-developed games is on the way, giving us an idea of what smaller-scale games we can expect on the Nintendo Switch in the near future. Hold onto your hats, because the event kicks off in 15 minutes, where we'll be covering it, as it airs.

Road 96 has you experience a road trip story with thousands of different outcomes and branching paths. Examples show change between taking a bus, taxi, or hitchhiking, each leading to different possibilities. Launches later this year.

Aerial Knights: Never Yield is a runner game. May 19th, with a demo later today. You'll parkour over urban obstacles.

Last Stop is a story-based game from Annapurna Interactive. July 2021.

Hindsight doesn't offer up much outside of a tease of a narrative-focused game. Releases later this year.

Skateboarding is the main draw to this next game. OlliOlli World is the latest game in the series. You can try to get the best combos, or just explore the world on your board. Winter 2021.

The Longing is a point and click style adventure game where you have to wait for time to pass. You'll need to pass 400 days worth of time, where time restricts you. Launches today.

There is no Game is another point and click game, that isn't a game. Called an experimental game, it launches today.

TMNT: Shredder's Revenge is coming to the Switch. It takes inspiration from older TMNT arcade games. Another game with no release date beyond sometime 2021.

Cris Tales is also headed to the Switch. It's a turn-based game where you manipulate time in battle and recruit varied teammates. July 20th.

GetsuFumaDen is a 2D roguelike. 2022.

Aztech: Forgotten Gods is a 3D cell-shaded action/adventure game. You'll be fighting Aztec gods and journeying to upgrade your tech gauntlet. Fall 2021.

Skul: The Hero Slayer is an action platformer inspired by other games in the genre. You play as the bad guy, who tries to take down the typical "good guys". It looks to be a beat-em-up kind of game. It has roguelike elements according to the developer. Sumer 2021.

It's time for a highlight reel of other titles they didn't have time to delve into. Art of Rally is an isometric driving game. KeyWe. Labyrinth City looks like a Where's Waldo book. Weaving Tides. The House of the Dead: Remake. Ender Lilies is a 2D bullet-hell looking game. Fez launches today.

There's going to be a sale on indie games today on the eShop.

That's it.

Or not, there's one last tease. Oxenfree II announced for release in 2021.

Didn't really blow me away. There was no major exciting announcement, some things announced were already known like the TMNT game, others are ports of existing.
House of the Dead remake is a nice surprise though, and the Fez port is welcome.

Gotta say, this was probably the first one of these in a long while that actually had something that caught my eye. Getsu Fūma Den: Undying Moon came out of nowhere and was a nice surprise. House of the Dead Remake also looks pretty cool, though I wish they’d looking into porting that new one that’s only been in the arcades.
