Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon could potentially just be the big surprise of Nintendo's upcoming direct, as trademark filings from Europe reveal. Both listings just popped up in the OHIM database today and were filed by Nintendo.

The universe did it first, it has physical objects named the Sun and the Moon.
Actually humanity did it first, the universe simply placed two celestial bodies out there and we decided to name them something. Even then, different cultures had different names for them, such as the moon being Luna for the romans and Selene for the greek.
I still think it's bullshit how every other planet's moons have names and ours is just that, moon.

Generic names are fun. Like naming a dog "Dog"

Is it me or the theme is repeating?
IIRC Ho-oh and Lugia already represented the Sun and the Moon.

Isn't Luigia the guardian of the seas and Ho Oh the guardian of the skies?

IIRC, Lugia only comes out of his cave when the moon is up.
Ho-oh, according to the legend, flew so high he was able to touch the sun, the only Pokémon that did it

Well the moon and the sea *are* tangentially related, so you might be on to something.

Actually I'm really hyped to the possibility of the 7th gen on Pokémon.
I hope they fix the framerate issues.
