Gaming Nintendo DSi (LL) batteries are "region locked"?

My DSi LL just arrived from Japan. But just now I released (idiot, I know) that when I asked them to remove the battery they removed it for good, not replacing into a special case or anything. Maybe I was too excited and wasn't thinking much but now I've got what I've got: a DSi LL without a battery.
So I'm asking: will the US XL battery work with Japanese LL.
I'm sure not though so I fear that the only choice I've got is a sea mail...

up:LL and XL batteries do have the same model no.(UTL-003) so I think there's a hope that I can buy a working battery here... I'm just not sure afterall that the XL battery will work with LL...

only region issues are in the software(games) and the wall end of the charger.
other than that there shouldn't be any difference at all between different region versions of the DSi XL/LL

Thanks, I've already got that. But DS is just so unpopular here... I cant seem to find any batteries being sold, only the consoles... If I only could ask some store to sell it to me separately. But I sure won't leave it be, now that I know that I can use a XL battery.

Well all I could find is some seemingly third party crap. Is it ok to use it, I mean will the console suffer in any way?
