Gaming Nintendo DS Lite Non Responding Touch Screen

What could be possibly going wrong on the inside of the DS Lite for it not to work? What would damage a touch screen? I plugged in the cable and fitted it to the screen.

What could make it not work?

You sure the cable is firmly secured?

I lifted up the little clamp, slid it in, and then I check if it falls out, it doesn't. Eve if you do a little pull

I ordered a new one since they only are two bucks but...I'm hoping it works. Thanks though.
