The Pikmin series of games follows the tales of Max O'Connell, a washed up former-detective who gets called back into the line of duty when his daughter is kidnapped by the Mexican Cartel. He journeys through hell and back to save her, and in the process, finds his own soul.

There's also that thing about a guy controlling the titular sprites to do his bidding, but it's pretty minor.

Anyway, Nintendo seems to have turned its eye towards the cartoon business, and of all their many franchises, it seems they've Picked-min for the occasion.

Considering some of their past efforts... well, hopefully Nintendo's learned a thing or two since then.

Anyway, the concept sounds decent enough. My interest in the franchise has always been Pik-miniscule, but hey, it has its fans, and I'm sure Miyamoto will do his best. At the very least, it should be a nice little bonus for 3DS owners.

What do you think? Will it be more droll-imar or dull-imar?

Don't forget that we need a new Mario Movie. The one from '93 was such a critical success!

Awesome, this will completely compensate for the lack of good games.

Wii U right now, looks quite similar to how the Vita looked at the same time in its lifespan.

Having said that, I think we're gonna see both systems ultimately succeed. This isn't 2006 anymore, systems aren't going to fly off the shelves anymore (well maybe the 3DS kind of is). The video game market is just going to behave differently from here on out, unless one company innovates in such a way that the masses are like fuck we need that. (The PS4 doesn't look like that, though it still looks fantastic). I'm talking some sort of ultra immersive, yet somehow affordable virtual reality type of shit. (and no not the type of virtual reality headgear you wear over your eyes), more like a room that you enter and suddenly you're surrounded in every angle by the game and you become the main character. I mean that is ultimately what seems to be the end game of video games, but I don't see that happening for quite a while. So my point is, we can probably expect the PS4 and next Xbox to start off as slow as the Vita and Wii U did, but ultimately they'll all probably succeed.

If in a year they're both struggling, tell me I'm wrong, but I don't see it (at least not for the Wii U, the Vita's future looks a little hazier to me given that it's still doing as poorly as it is after all this time).

That's no small feat for a mild-mannered cricket umpire.

I like Pikmin, and a cartoon could either be adorable or dark and subversive (the thing I always liked about the game was the callous disregard for the well-being of individual Pikmin, and how enemies would devour dozens of Pikmin before you could defeat them). Depending on the script, this could be fun. Or brutal. Either is good.

I shall post some soot sprites now, for reasons.

All I can think of when I see this topic is CDI Link saying, GREAT! I can't wait to bomb some Bulborbs!

(Hopefully we won't get something THAT bad.) Honestly, I dont think they can do worse than the CDI cartoons/Captain N/Super Show

    ERROR!
These will just be a few animated shorts like those Kid Icarus Uprising ones we had some time ago, those were quite nice actually and it was my first time seeing 2D animation in layered 3D.

Just to be clear, the comment about "Nintendo having a terrible history when it comes to animation" is just a joke, NoJ never had a hand in the production of the American cartoons. The Japanese animated Super Mario 3, Wario Land, Mario Kart commercials among others are great examples of how a proper animated production supervised by Nintendo looks like.

I'm filing this away with my evidence that Gahars is your dupe account.

Well. I think I might be the only one who is aggravated that this is only animation stuff and not a playable pikmin game.

Gahars puns aren't really that funny any more :( they were good, but then its like... he went the way of Kotaku and stopped caring and puts no effort into it.

But hey, if you want a fun Pikmin game, try the Nintendo Land version, reeeeeally fun.
