Nintendo confirms that its next console will have backwards compatibility with the Switch

nitennzomg.png

While leaks indicated such, and fans were hopeful, it has finally been officially confirmed: the Nintendo Switch's successor will have backwards compatibility. Nintendo Switch games will be playable on the "Switch 2"/Switch successor, and Nintendo Switch Online will also work on it as well. Of course, further details will be announced at a later date--which is still set for anytime between now and March 31, 2025.

I may be misremembering but I think Nintendo already confirmed that they want to continue supporting physical media.
They will for 2 reasons, it is a very known thing that Nintendo consumers like to own physical media and in Japan 70% of game sales are physical. I can see Nintendo and PlayStation still supporting physical media only in Japan while the rest of the world only gets digital but I still see Nintendo as the only company that will continue to support physical media because they like to package toys with their products and also Nintendo has a long standard of doing things a traditional way and they like to instil that cultural in their products.

I can confirm it will not be called Switch 2.

Unless they want to break from their entire history, they've never called a console or handheld "2" 2DS does not count.

I hope this means physical software and not just eShop stuff.
I'm guessing this is why the Switch "software" will be compatible. Why not say cartridges or what ever they call them? I think we'll still get a surprise we may not like.

Nah. It'll be the 4DS 4D and 3D modes supported!
Comes with a hit of acid , you can hear colors and see other dimentions
Ah yes, 4D manipulation. The new Nintendo Timeslip comes with the ability to go back to the 2000's. Rebel against culture to the tunes of Avril Levine once more!

If anyone complained about children screeching into their mics over the internet, imagine sending them screeching through time and space. They can appear anywhere, ready to insult your mother and call you insensitive names in wild new noun combinations.

Both of you, you're banned from the idea thinktank

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's because they werent designed for gaming, these are rehashed Android TV devices with a replacement firmware.

@SylverReZ, Wait iirc My sup m3 stopped working due to some battery issue, it's similar to a phone battery so it might be easy to replace, and i'm sure miyoo cfw supports reformatted micro sd cards

I tried to find the screen to replace it myself, and its more than buying a whole new unit, so not worth trying. But I have extra one for parts/ battery atleast.

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
@kijetesantakalu042 Well yea if your laptop/pc takes Nvme Gen4 Ssd.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BigOnYa, The RS36S what I like about it, is that it's easily serviceable, not too difficult to replace the battery or the sticks.

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
@kijetesantakalu042 I'm not sure bout that then tbh.

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
@kijetesantakalu042 Actually there is a couple reviews for that one, people saying not to use for boot drive.
