Following the official North American 3DS launch at Best Buy in New York back in March, Nintendo is to continue its relationship with the retailer by offering exclusive downloadable content for the console at around 1,000 stores from 7th June.

As well as offering 3DS users access to the SpotPass service, which sees the console automatically connect to an available Wi-Fi hotspot to download new information, visitors will also be able to download exclusive content including movie trailers and gaming extras.

The service will kick off on 7th June, just after the 3DS eShop update.[/p]

Well....what can I say..good for people with a Best Buy near them since it's not on this archipelago

Don't worry. You aren't missing much. Best Buy sucks.
O really? That's interesting...I always thought it's something "good"

I don't know about you but I've found decent deals on Laptops and Televisions... Aside from those, I don't really purchase much else there.

Too bad my Best Buy is bit of a drive away and not close by or else I'd be there to check some of this content when it comes around.

Wow, first teaming up with AT&T and now BestBuy? Let me guess, there's some sort of rule that Nintendo lives by that forbids them from teaming up with something better, or something that we all have?

Honestly, the nearest bestbuy to me is like an hour and a half away.

Nintendo is really dropping the ball with this partnership with the 3DS.

I don't see anything wrong with BestBuy. Besides, they get a lot of customers. It's definitely a better choice than AT&T.

There are 3 near me, closest being roughly 20-30 minutes away by car. It's not worth the trip when I have other electronic retailers much closer to home. Guess I'll have to go though, to see what this exclusive content is (better not be some crappy Best Buy advertisement stuff).

I don't have a 3DS, but even though I'm lucky enough to be close to several, they're WAY overpriced and their "Geek Squad" combined know less about computers than I did when I was 13.

I really doubt it, but I wonder if this will come to Canada. I really do. I rarely see Events held by Nintendo in Canada. And there is a Best Buy on the other end of town.

Not all places have BestBuy though. I'm not saying their service sucks, I mean the decisions on who they're teaming up with sucks. Why not pick an EBGames/GameStop? Or hell, give that HotSpot thing to Starbucks. Every town has those. Go outside of one and there's one across the street from it.

Although I have nothing against the chain of stores, the problem I have with my local Best Buy is that they often overcharge for stuff, especially computer parts. I mean, seriously. Last time I checked, they charged $60-$70 for a 2 GB stick of ram, when I can get a quality 4 GB kit for only about $50 online. They've also charged almost $80 for this graphics card I saw when I've found better ones for half the price online.

You have a better chance of your computer getting fixed by a sledge hammer than Geek Squad.

*wonders if this includes UK stores*
*checks where closest store is*
*shrugs*

Unless they decide to give away games (not a chance) I cannot see myself wasting my time and petrol for this.

30min drive to closest Best Buy (assuming no traffic, again not a chance), compared to 5min walk to closest store that sells games or 15min walk to closest dedicated game store.

You could check it out the next time you're in the area.
