Nintendo of America president has told online gaming publication Kotaku that Nintendo didn’t release the Nintendo 3DS to market before it was ready. Many have speculated that the system was rushed to launch to combat Nintendo’s lower-than-expected fiscal earnings, hence why the system didn’t launch with a killer app such as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and why the Nintendo 3DS eShop wasn’t available at launch. What do you think? Was the system rushed to launch, or did Nintendo release it at the right time?[/p]

I really don't think they released at the right time. You can easily tell that by the crappy launch titles and how bad the 3DS is selling.

They didn't rush, but they gave the chance to 3rd parties to take a share in the launch, instead of launching a system seller. If they launched with a system seller the 3rd parties would sell a hell of a lot less games!

People basicly are waiting for _the_ system seller.

I think it's been mentioned more than once that the launch should have waited until OoT. Then the eshop would have been good to go, as well as the browser, kinks would have been worked out in due time, and there would have been an even better launch day. It isn't like they had any competition at the time for releasing a next gen handheld. Hell, using E3 this year, they could have really sealed the deal for people pre-launch.

A late June launch would have benefited the 3DS to an astounding degree.

The rush made a mess of the eshop and caused problems related to crediting. Though I loved the browser.

I'm almost sure they lied, because it's almost too obvious to miss.

Even though the software in the launch window 'sucks', at least it's better than the DS launch.

Hardly any system shines at launch. [IMG]

I think it's obvious it was rushed. It needed more R&D, and didn't have any killer game on the line up...

Of course they rushed to launch. But that's not important now, we have to wait and see if it has a lasting effect or things can recover. Personally, I think it was a big mistake not waiting till at least one Mario game was ready.

Not really rushed anymore, since the browser and eShop is in (but where's my Netflix!?)

Now I'll just for all the marioz to fly in [IMG]
