doesnt mean they still wont make a new version, especially after all the problems the current model is having
nintnedo loves making new iterations of their portables

Totally agree and am hoping for a phat/XL model.

Off-topic, but related to why I'd like an XL: If anyone can think of oversized (say 50% bigger) versions of the 360 and PS3 pads I'd appreciate a heads up.

I'd say the lackluster launch titles are largely to blame.

If Legend of Zelda, Mario or fuck even Metroid was available at launch, the console would still be selling like hot cakes months after it's release. Instead, we get Pilotwings Resort and some dinosaur fighting game.

Sales will pick up once AAA titles are released, but that'll take a while I think

I'm sure it also has something to do with being released in a non holiday setting. Come time for the holiday rush, the sales will be back up. Also, I second Slayakin on the first page.

Yeah I can't justify spending more money on the current generation handheld than the current generation console of the same company.

The 3DS is eighth generation, the Wii is seventh.

From my perspective the complete lack of demo units (or decent Point of Sale stuff) in all of my local game-shops doesn't help. Sure you can demo a unit, but you have to ask a member of staff to get it you, then they stare at you whilst you play it... not ideal. Needs more games as well.
