As has been mentioned, it's a browser exploit. Conceivably, someone could start maliciously targeting 3DS users, and then the media could catch wind of the story, and then people could start wondering about whether they should buy a Switch, and so on. It would be bad for business.

Most issues tend to be user errors or are resolved, very few ever have any actual serious issues. Even the few who do have issues doesn't mean anyone should be discourage from installing a CFW. Userland exploits are far more likely to be patched out through OFW and as a result, are far less reliable. Installing a CFW like Luma3DS is pretty much the only way to future-proof your system. Even when OFW updates like this are pushed by the Big-N, they are very quickly taken care of the Luma3DS and or members of the community.
    Please just install a CFW.
Why? CFW is the only way to actually protect your access to your homebrews. You are setting yourself up for more issues by sticking to just userland exploits.

Browserhax 2020 may be gone, but like I said in my earlier post – U-region userland exploits haven't changed since 11.7. Luma has now been broken twice.

I am a little confused by that. Do you mean your 3DS is physically broken or that you aren't sure if you can install a CFW now that you've updated? Or is Luma3DS broken?
Userland exploits are constantly being patched out and broken, that's a pretty poor argument against installing a CFW. It took a little over an hour for the Luma3DS team to fix the issue and have an updated version of Luma3DS released. Userland exploits that are patched are pretty much SOL after that point.

So... this is Nintendo very very very delayed reaction to the leaks?

Browserhax 2020 is the first major userland exploit I can think of that's been patched out since 11.7. Pretty much all the other ones are still working as well as they ever did. They are not "constantly being patched out and broken".

(If your reference is 3dbrew, then that page is unfortunately an outdated mess. Some day I may work up the nerve to fix it.)

yup. Not gonna update from 11.13.0-45 just so my CFW homebrew stuff stops working in this latest update.

I thought this update a bit random, but didn't the Vita just experience an update also? (recently?)
