In chapter 4 everywhere i go seems dead, theres a door with a freaky monster with big eyes that i cant get past any help?

Yeah, there are air vents on the sides of the hallway leading to the door you're describing. Go through one of them, use your fire ninpo on the torch at the top end of the area. Then go to the other side and do the same thing. That will open the door.
