Wow nintendo doing some smart things lately. First Humble Bundle then this. Glad they are getting some brains back. :P I wish almost every wii u and 3ds game had a demo so you'd know what you were buying since you cant really rent games anymore except gamefly or whatever. I miss going to the store and being able to rent.

Nice, I'll have to give some of these a try then. At least Mutant Mudds and Freedom Planet. Mutant Mudds I expect will be impossibly hard, because it's designed for people who have mastered the first game, and I didn't even get halfway in that one.

Well, that Humble Bundle is a hate-it-or-love-it thing. I guess every American think it was awesome (except Brazilians, and a few more), and pretty much everyone else hated it since it was region locked to the Americas only. So while you could buy 10 games (or was it 12?) for 10 bucks, I could buy one of the games for 16 bucks. yeah.

I do like this one though!

    Nice promotion.
These games are very "indie". It is nothing for graphic enthusiasts.
I tried Freedom Planet. Apparently the developers love Sonic.

Oooh, Freedom Planet! This is one of my favorite indie games on PC, and I'm absolutely going to rebuy it on Wii U in August. I'm glad to see Nintendo promoting it like this.

Freedom Planet was originally a Sonic fangame. it's actually a good game though.

I find that hilarious, usually fan made games that use another companies IP never ever stand a chance of becoming legit, just unofficial homebrew that the original IP holder resents and tries to stamp out of existance, that if true, is just plain awesome!

Well, it's not a fangame anymore. Every trace of Sega's IP was removed from it. The lead dev's ambitions grew and many of his ideas wouldn't work in a fangame, so he decided to use a new IP, run a kickstarter, and found an indie studio to make his game.

It worked out well; in spite of obvious Sonic inspiration, Freedom Planet also draws from other classic 16-bit games, like Rocket Knight Adventures and Gunstar Heroes, and a 32-bit look and feel (reminiscent of Rayman and other Saturn-era platformers), along with plenty of completely original ideas. The end result is something that feels more like a homage than a rip-off, and is fun to play from start to finish.

Soul Axiom seems interesting, but the demo is so short, there's like, 5 minutes gameplay max.

Are there play/time limits for these demos?
