Bonemonkey, the new ones have an extra heatsink so it should be better off. Don't know if it's totally RROD proof though. But an X-Clamp fix is like $5 and some change and is pretty permanent from what everyone elses experience with it it seems.
frm what i've read there are no rrod proof xbox360s. it's the only thing stopping me from buying one. a 3 year warranty instead of a proper solution is lame even for MS

Only because MS refuse to fix the problem properly. I'm sure most people would prefer a working xbox360 unit that is unlikely to break down with a 1 year warranty, than a 360 which is likely to break down and a 3 year warranty
No the PS3's don't have anything wrong with them. Apart from sony not repairing them if they're dusty

ps3 sux! i bought one and returned it in 3 days. look on ign.com for a head to head on the same games. xbox 360 has one all of the matches. especially madden ....ps3 30fps x360 60fps! lol. and on assasins creed the ps3 version gets framerate drop for no reasons. these are all facts by the way.
RROD.... where is the time that consoles didnt have load times and you just blow some dust out to keep 'em working

Play Games, Install Linux ( Fun to play with ), Drop it on your friend to kill him, Guarantee your console won't break after a year, Anything you can do on a 360, you can do a PS3 just as good or better.

I ditched the 360 after having 3 in just over a year
Now im happy with the PS3.... Not many games so far but the machines got potential
nope not going to get a xbos 360 i play long periods of time i know i will get a rrod

get a 360 mate, youve got nothing to lose cos youl be covered under warranty and the new 360s have extra protection as mentioned, i have one and i seriously think that i should have got it years ago when it came out cos its just awesomeness
