no way of getting around it, so far the only confirmed models with this is the black consoles on sale in japan, but i imagine all new drives have it fixed now

you can however still load from USB

so just do a full hack as you would on a normal Wii, attempt to load via DVD with NeoGamma for example, if it fails then you can still load via USB, which IMO is better anyway

Yeah but I'd only be abe to get an external HDD in about 1 month, so I could use a couple of DVDs for some games in the emantime...I'm glad to know that the only confirmed models are the black ones and I will be checking soon enough, I'll let you guys know if it works fr anyone tht might care

unfortunately, my wii is that one, after hacking, it can play game via USB loader, but it can not read DVD and any backup disk. It's not a black one.

My friend recently bought a new White Wii here in Canada, and after softmodding, he can't load backups from DVD, however he bought a USB HDD and it's working great with NeoGamma.

Every Wii being sold now has the "D3-2" drive, which will never be able to use any disc other than retail Wii games. (Well, for a long time at the very least.)

If you really insist on disc loading, you could buy an old Wii DVD drive.

who needs disc channel if usb loading is way much faster and convenient to use.

People who can't afford external HDs, also people who can't DL games (Some of my friends whose wiis I've hacked have Comcast) and rely on other people to give them burned discs.
