Hi, gus. I have just got a PSP off a friend, but I have no clue where to start for playing homebrew etc.
Looking in the settings, it has System Software 3.95.

That's all I know, I don't yet know what to do with this information, but I assume it's helpful.

What is my first move?

He tells us in the initial post - It's a Phat or a PSP 2000 with a TA-088v2 Mobo. Either Update to 5.03 and use the ChickHen to run HCRF or get yourself a Pandora battery and use Rains Ultralite MMS tool.

Phat, does it make a difference? ITs quite old.

you can go onto 5.00 firmware, and then use chickhen to run hellcats recovery flasher to go onto M33 and from there on you can either go onto GEN or stay on M33. Up to you, go on the M33 or GEN thread to see what one is better for you

er, but now isn't a good time to go on that thread. If you need step by step instructions i'll be happy to help

I'll need step-by-step I think.
I have been looking at some pictures in google, it seems to be a PSP-1000 (speakers at bottom + HOME button).
So, what so I do (as specifically as possible please, I have never had a PSP before and know absolutely nothing about them). I'm going to assume I need a good amount of battery life (it's currently at 7%, so I'll be charging first).

first you will need to go onto www.pspslimhacks.com and look for 5.00 official firmware, and then update to that. Once your finished with that, i'll tell you everything then lol

Oh and you need to put the 5.00 OFW in the folder PSP/GAME and you need at least 79% battery i think

79%! thats gunna take ages. Does it work ok if I leave the charger plugged in? (I'm only at 38% now).

Hold down the Left shoulder button and the triangle button to bypass the battery check. Make sure you're plugged in however.

The reason I made the topic at the top is so then you didn't have to search for all the files you need to download.

The link's in my sig, and it's at the top of the PSP forum. ¬¬
