ROM Hack New to 3ds scene. Need help for backup games

I have little experience with wii,vita,ps3 and psp soft mods.
I have currently got a 3ds from my customer. It's not the one with big screen Nd it's not the latest one though.
I am looking for a tutorial to install homebred and let me able to play downloaded backup games . Are there any backup launchers yet ? I do see a lot of tutorials but not sure which one has compatibility for backup games launching.

I may not need a cfw though.

You NEED CFW in order to load games/backups. The most commonly used CFW is Luma3DS: https://gbatemp.net/threads/luma3ds-noob-proof-3ds-custom-firmware.411110/
Do you know english well? If so, install Luma3DS, arm9loaderhax, some homebrew apps and FBI with the following: https://3ds.guide/ (I highly reccomend updating to the latest OFW 〚 11.2〛 for the sake of saving time)
If you want free games I suggest installing freeShop afterwards: https://freeshop.pw/
If you want to use another CFW or want to know what other CFWs do then I suggest reading Crystal The Glaceon’s thread/FAQ: https://gbatemp.net/threads/faq-what-cfw-is-best-for-me.428509/
If you have any doubts, just ask, look in threads made by other people, the stickies, or make one yourself.
3DS.GUIDE WILL NEVER BE OUTDATED. I AND MANY OTHER PEOPLE SUGGEST NOT FOLLOWING VIDEO GUIDES, AS THEY BECOME OUTDATED REALLY QUICK.
Just to tell you, other written guides have caused many bricks and unnecessary problems due to them using outdated methods. 3ds.guide is basically the equivalent of the 3DS modder's bible.

I am getting the 3ds today for flashing with cfw to play backup games. My doubt here is, it already has R4 card on it and plays ds games from micro sd card.

Is it going to get affected? Also, its on a fimrware that was released during the year 2013 and was never updated. I know nintendo has released new firmware online and we must not update it.
Is there shortcut method to directly update to 11.2 like we do for vita and psp ?
If you guys recommend me to keep the powder dry and wait for few months i would not be touching the device. Will act upon your advice !

You don't need to update directly to 11.2. Just follow http://3ds.guide/. Your R4 card shouldn't be affected by the update. They stopped bothering trying to block flashcards.

So this means, whatever the current firmware is just use that as entry point.

You need to know exactly what firmware you are at. Turn off Wifi and go to system settings to see it in the lower right corner. If it is 6.3.0 you can follow the guide since it gives the steps needed for every firmware.

Because i found wii-u usb helper very interesting and useful. Do we have something like that for 3ds?
