Hey thank you, I successfully in stalled Sterophonick's kernel but I see is kernel 1.09 firmware 9, while official kernel is 1.10 firmware 9 (last update to date).
Is there any significant difference I have to consider about Sterophonick's over the official one?

I just discovered I cannot save bg or gbc games neither with game saves or save states, how do I fix it?

The official Kernel 1.10 updated the FatFS, added a fix for Goodboy Galaxy, and finally made Jagoomba the default embedded GB/GBC emulator.

Is it possible to keep saves/save states on GB and GBC games?
for some reason I cannot keep saves after a power cycle with Sterophonick's Simple v3.7

Hello all!

I have been working on a new theme for the EZ-Flash Omega, and I call it Simple.

It is a nice rounded theme with both light and dark options, and allows for way more functionality on your Game Boy Advance!

Its features are:

PogoShell plugin support
A handful of plugins are included which means you can launch way more emulators and file types such as text documents, images, and music.

Save backup feature
When enabled, this will make up to five backups of the save file belonging to the ROM/file you are opening.

Better English translation
Just better in general

Cleaner sans-serif font

An option to hard reset the console when booting a GBA game without holding L.

I implemented this because I know some people like me like having the BIOS intro screen.

In short, it doesn't just look pretty, it gives your cartridge way more functionality as well!

Hope everyone likes it!

Latest version: v3.7
Latest version (DE): v1.4

DEFINITIVE EDITION USERS:
DOWNLOAD SimpleDE.zip FOR YOUR CARTRIDGE.

OTHERWISE DOWNLOAD Simple.zip!
ALSO YOU MUST USE THE OFFICIAL KERNEL TO UPDATE THE FIRMWARE; THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO THE BASE OMEGA :(

READ THE INCLUDED TEXT DOCUMENT BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS!

Does the Autostart first game in NOR when holding L on boot work for you guys? doesnt seem to work for me, but maybe im doing something wrong. But great download really like it!
Doesn't work for me. Running Simple DE 1.5, firmware 7, and kernel 1.05 on a rev B cart.

Gonna get an EZ Flash Omega Definitive Edition soon, I wondered if I should go with the current stock firmware or take this? I heard the EZ Flash guys have added rumble support for GBC games that support it, which are quite a few it seems, 28 judging from the romset I got here.

Being able to emulate more stuff than just GB/C and NES sounds already quite nice, though the GBA's resolution is probably problematic for all those systems anyway...

SimpleDE doesn't takes away any features the stock kernel already has. It's based on it and improves on it.

Also, emulators have been working in different GBA flashcarts already for decades. SimpleDE gives you the convenience to run them way more easily, but you can play those same games with the stock kernel. It'll just be more cumbersome in comparison.

yes.

It is up to date, just install it.
According to another 'well known' user further up this same page, as of late December '24 the 3.7 release for Omega is still using K1.09 F9 and still has the Jagoomba not keeping saves after a power cycle issue it's had for years. As of September '24 the final release of the official Omega kernel is now K1.10 F9, with an update to the FatFS, a Goodboy Galaxy fix, and Jagoomba embedded as the new default, and working without issue. The DE kernel is up to date. The Omega kernel is not.

Hi, it seems the jagoomba bundled in this kernel does not works properly.
At least for me it never saved any progress or savestate.

I fixed it thanks to this post by user Cralex:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/new-theme-for-ez-flash-omega.520665/post-9893593

I also realized you can use the same method with the plugin folder to "update" any of the base emulators for their respective newer versions, I did this for the Gbc/Gb emulator and the NES emulator.

They both work and keep saves and savestates now.
Tested with TLoZ Link's awakening in Gbc and Crisis Force on NES.

Btw I think OP discontinued the work on non DE omega years ago so the bugs were never fixed but the plugin folder worked for me and 'Simple' kernel has the benefit of save backup wich is HUGE compared to OG kernel.

Yes. I've been down this road with 3.7 for the omega. It's a couple of years old. Sterophonick very recently updated the DE kernel for the sept '24 kernel update. I have not installed it yet since buying a DE, but it's very nice that he's still maintaining it.

I had issues with file corruption a while after using this method of side loading Jagoomba on 3.7 to fix the save function. I don't know why. Fair warning to have a sd card backup. Good luck with 3.7. I got frustrated with it and rolled back to 3.45. (it included the k109 f9 update, but predated the jagoomba switch and had the embedded goomba 5-4-19 emu) Later, I side loaded Jagoomba there and had no issues for many months. It direct booted games, bypassing the context menu, but everything worked. I dunno why I had so much trouble with 3.7. I ended up going back to the latest oem kernel before finally getting a DE to replace my omega with a long dead clock battery. I was sad to see those save backups go... but I wanted embedded jagoomba working properly without a janky workaround. DE makes this moot.

NO. Do NOT do this. They are set to be detected as eeprom and then automatically re-adjusted to sram for the sake of outputting the correct file size. Just use the auto-detect for save type and they'll work fine.

Hi - i'm trying to get LoZ to work on my GBA Micro using the EZ Flash DE. The game boots but extremely slowly and is unresponsive. I used the .bin file attached to this thread and i belive all my settings are correct but the ROM still does not work properly. Anything I may be missing?

You're talking about the Classic NES rom right? If so, make sure you keep the save setting on auto. Also is your rom a proper (1MB) or overdump (4MB)?
