Nintendo announced on Twitter today that a new character will be revealed for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tomorrow at 7am PT/10am ET. The video presentation will only be three minutes long, and will then be followed by a short message from Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai.

A one-off character from Super Mario RPG that SmashFAQs can't stfu about already. If he happens by some wish upon a star, great for those who wanted him for so long. Personally, I'd rather have the following list of characters next that I'd say have a realistic chance of being a possibility in Smash:

Dante or Phoenix Wright
Travis Touchdown
Mach Rider
Axel from Streets of Rage
Whoever they will end Smash Ultimate with

I've wanted Geno in for a long time because I'm a huge Mario RPG fan, but I do feel like how incessant certain fans have been about him sours the whole thing a little. That said, I don't think we'll get him because he's already a Spirit, and there hasn't been any crossover between Spirits and fighters yet (aside from the "Fighter Spirits" category obviously). There've been a few similar ones but they're usually careful to distinguish them somehow, like Kaptain K. Rool as opposed to King K. Rool.

2. Oof, that performance. Like, I thought Bloodstained was underwhelming considering it looks like an up-scaled 2.5D 360/PS3 game, but holy shit, less than 10FPS!? I'd understand if this was someone trying to run Metroid Prime 2 when a portal is open on Dolphin with the Switch (and not even my PC, which is rocking a 1080 and an i7-8700k can run that on high resolutions without the FPS taking a shit when that happens), but if it got to that point, I'd just do whatever I could to cut things down and make it run at 30fps, if not 60.

Both characters will have weapons, or so the not-always-reliable source claims. Dante, Travis, Master Chief, and a few others would be on the table with that...

Geno...that wooden wizard puppet dude from that old Paper Mario predecessor? Why would anyone care about such a bland character?

Phoenix Wright would be much preferable, since ALL of his games have been released on Nintendo systems - particularly the 3DS - along with all of the side games (which have an unfortunate trend of not being localised; AA Investigations 2, the "Feudal Japan + Sherlock Holmes" duo - why not rename the guy to Herlock Sholmes or something?).
Dunno any of the rest, though.

I'd also take Rex + Pyra (with Mythra being an alt costume) and/or Professor Layton (all his games have been released on Nintendo handhelds). Ōkami would also be nice.

Well now that would just be excellent! I'm no VJ superfan, but I remember the GameCube games fondly, and think he'd add some new personality to the roster. Plus, the series DID begin life as a Nintendo exclusive
