can anyone tell me why it keeps freezing
i have system menu 4.2u and i'm using neogamma r8b7 with an 8gb pny usb. it keeps freezing after about 3 levels

my system is also softmod

I seriously recommend you try Gecko an dthe cheat file as updated on page 1. I did this as I could not get NeoGamma to work and I played the game for about an hour no issues. However, to get Gecko to work you need HBC installed - this seriously takes about 1 - 2min via the bannerbomb method for System Menu 4.2.

What I have just found out - which has made my day more than getting NSMB to work - is that I can now play NTSC games again on System Menu 4.2 via Gecko. The small things hey... Though that is quite big for me.

P.s. I am using the NON patched version of the game

I definitely recall your problem occurring widespread with at least the first _two_ releases. Try the latest one (by group iND IIRC). Info here: CODEhttp://nzbmatrix.com/viewnfo.php?id=527370

The one I got working was immediately prior to that one: "New Super Mario Bros EUR Wii iND Incl Copy Protection Patch" - The main.dol had to be patched manually.

The disc channel gives that error because ios70 (system 4.2) hasn't been trucha patched, this is of course assuming your burning a copy with the main.dol patched, else the game wouldn't work anyways properly. Ios53 should also be patched if you want to run from the disc channel.

How does NeoGamma work anyway?

I have the same question...
I tried to run NeoGamma via Homebrew channel, but it I am just getting black screen.

Please note I have 4.2E system.

P.S. It looks like NSMB does work via NeoGamma after all.

Are you using a softmod? If so, I take it you're not running from disc.

My system is:
Wii PAL 4.2E
Wiikey v1 flashed with firmware 1.9s
I had to follow A,B,C step from the guide mentioned before to get NeoGamma R8 beta 7 working for me. After that I have NeoGamma working. And I am able to run NSMB from DVD now. So it's runnig from the DVD, but only through NeoGamma (it gives me "Press reset .... " message if I insert DVD before I start NeoGamma)

-Try NeoGamma R8Beta7, which should be able to run the Game without any patches needed (Thanks WiiPower!)
-Try GeckoOS, and this Cheat File (Thanks to Fenrir). Place it under /codes/, and activate Ocarina in GeckoOS
-Or download and Install IOS53 and your System IOS (3.2-IOS30, 4.0/4.1= IOS60, 4.2=IOS70) and patch them with the Trucha Patch. Use DOP-IOS for this, and play the fixed ISO. You'll need a Wii that is connected to the Internet!

Thnx for this, installing the ios53 trusha'd and changin the boot.dol is the best option for me, cuz it now can run trough the disc channel, other ppl wont have probs

Thats a generic email then as its exactly the same as what they sent me when I asked about the region free ability being restored in 4.2 I hope they do update it though! what chip have you got?

So... I get a green screen when running it through an older backup launcher [with 002 fix] and through neogamma7 thingy...

Is this a known problem, or did I eff up somewhere?

First i have to say this site rocks... Now on to my question..I really havent done anything to my wii in a long time...I currently have a soft modded 3.2u wii with home brew using only DVD's with an older neo gamma..That said yesterday I updated my wii with "cios38rev14 installer 249 and I also put neo gamma 8 beta 8 in my home brew. I also put the neo gamma 8 beta 7 channel wad on it because I couldnt find a wad for neo gamma 8 beta 8, I Also just Downloaded Gecko_SVN_build_r14 but havent tried it yet. Then I downlaoded the ws_nsmb_pal_multi5.iso (its the one with the hack)..( i know how to do the hack if needed). So my question is.... Is There A Way To Make This Work Via DVD???? Are there any success stories doing this??? If so I would like to see them.. Thanks in advance
