There is a bug in the level 2-3 of this awesome custom game cause by the camera that wont zoom out. You will go into a pipe and you will be stuck in some sands without be able to go anywhere.
I just figured out how to deal with this bug.
You must have 2 players
Player 1 take the yoshi and player 2 take the mini mushroom at the previous screen.
In the next room (with the sands and wall) Player 2 press A to be in a balloon.
When player 2 just pass the wall, Player 1 must pop the balloon with yoshi's tongue and release him.
Then the player 2 will be able to reach the flag on the right to finish the level.

I think it will help a lot of people since there was absolutely no clue when I google it !

I was unable to get Yoshi's tongue to get out from the box filled with sand, however what I was able to do was get one of the characters with Yoshi to go to the bottom left, bubble the other one, then get Yoshi to the bottom right and have him duck (holding the "down" arrow on the controller). That was his nose would stick out from the right side, and when the bubbled character would get close to it while outside of the blocks, Yoshi's nose would pop the bubble leaving the other character outside of the boxes.

I saw a few videos on Youtube of people showing how they did it, but I was unable to decipher what they actually did. Doing what I described above was the only thing that worked for me. I do however greatly appreciate your post, as it was the closest thing I found to anybody explaining how to get through that, with a lot of trial and error on my behalf, and following your suggestion led me to figuring out the way I described above that worked for me.
