I dismissed this title when I saw the first few screens, I thought it was another cheap knock off from Activision but I just saw a trailer and hands on at the link below and I'm looking forward to playing it.

http://www.destructoid.com/spider-man-does...ds-105992.phtml

So its Spider-Man in a Castlevania! Thankfully there are no touchscreen controls (sure they were fun for like 20 minutes but they got tedious). Looks like we'll have a better than average DS Spider-Man game that will be good like the GBC/GBA ones and not weak.

The game was developed by Griptonite Games who have had an hit & miss run on the GBA/DS but I have read in the past that most of the misses were due to them not getting the right amount of time to develop games.

Looks like it might actually be good. Might be the first Spiderman game on DS to be worth playing.

My thoughts exactly....I didn't enjoy any Spiderman game so far...But this one looks great, only if it isn't too repetitive..

Video looks pretty damn good!

I don't see how the Castlevania formula could work with Spiderman.. but the video looks like a cool game.. will the DS version have Wolverine too?

DS should have a Spider Man game like the PSX one.. maybe a remake even, that's by far the best Spider man game I've ever played..

Probably be busy with other games. Interested in the big console version but it sounds like the PS3 & 360 ones are the only ones that have any effort involved.

I usually write off ds versions of console games as shovelware. This is a very nice surprise, looking forward to it.

Are there other DS versions of console games that are done well?

Iron Man DS is the best version, though its just above average.
Geometry Wars: Galaxies is better for me on DS
Ninja Gaiden was done very well.
Speed Racer is much better on DS.

LEGO Batman & LEGO Star Wars Complete Saga are done very well but of course not worth having if you've got another console.

There are many others too. When it comes to DS versions of games, developers should see them as seperate games rather than just a DS version of something.

Ah yeah, I forgot about galaxies, that game is pretty addictive.

I'll try out the games you listed, thank you. Particularly LEGO Batman.

The gameplay looks great.
Graphics... well, they are not that great, but what would you except from a ds-game anyway? Looking forward to this one

A new article on it was posted here (scroll down a bit): http://www.4colorrebellion.com/archives/20...-shadows-wiids/

The preview is just unabashedly positive, saying he was "totally blown away" and that it "could be the best Spidey game since the SNES days".

Also: I mentioned this in Hadrian's Oct. releases thread, but some of the GBA Spyro: The Eternal Night team worked on this (Taron Millet, notably)- and recall that that game came out of nowhere, with a blah license and received overwhelmingly positive reviews from DSFanboy, 4CR and RacketBoy (all 9+). This seems to be following a similar path.

The visuals look like Ultimate Spider-man, with the level design of Spider-man 3. Not sure how different this will be, other than it using mostly the face buttons, which will be nice.

I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.

Hope you've had a good morning.

It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.

Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
