Does your laptop have 5.1 output?

It isn't required, as the X-540 supports Creative's "matrixing" technology (meaning it redistributes the sound and creates pseudo-surround output), but the quality will be diminished.

I don't think so

. Think I'm gonna go with the Z-4i anyway, don't have that much free space on my desktop and the sound is focused on 2 speakers instead of 5 and I don't really need it for movies, so yeah.
