why is the passme so weird looking. Couldnt find it in the review.. I think.. Imma re read it and see if Puck says if it has any cool features.

It's more of a tutorial then a review...

Yeah, there isn't much to say about these Passes thats why I just combined a tutorial with a small review. With the passes, it either works or doesn't, there aren't a bunch of things you can do with them like you can with flash carts.

Why the heck do you need to reboot your computer to program the device?
Looking at the EZPass site instructions the program also looks needlessly complicated.

Why do ask this? Passme devices are usually very similar looking to this device. The only other type really available are the Passkey type, which bend around on themselves.
Most have stated in reviews that these bend around type passmes whilst look good are a pain in the butt because they get in the road and don't let you lay your DS flat.

Personally if a DS requires a PassmeV2 then I would recommend the person use the device once then use flashme. It's got to be a pain in the arse to have to do that bootup routine everytime you want to play.

My mate had to buy a Superpass2 to use with his DS so we flashme'd that sucker no problems at the weekend and now he no longer has to worry about it.

    * You don't HAVE to reboot, but it helps for your parallel port to recognize hardware plugged into it if your computer is shut down.

    * It may look complicated, but it took all of a minute to actually flash the EZ Pass. Compare that to the one step Super Pass 2 that takes 5 seconds after you spend 10 minutes (based on complaints you see everywhere) trying to get your computer to recognize it.

No problem, just pointing out the software looks a bit much. (Could be a point in a review? Many other cards get this pointed out)

People should have little issues with the Superpass2 if they followed the instructions, not too much will work the way it should if instructions are not followed.
Superpass2 is as simple as this product, I base that from my own use of it. Steps are simply to open Superpass2 program, connect printer port, connect USB, then run the program, pretty simple really.

But the points I was making on the EZPass in my other post were not to try and 'win points' for the Superpass2, really I could care less what people buy and from your review I can see they are very similar products. I was only making conversation on the product's features as this is the reply thread for your review of the EZPass2.

::sigh:: parallel port cables. such a pain in the butt using them for my gbc/mono flashcard once every couple years or so. i'll probably be getting one of these for my little brother, seeing as theres another floating around that too many people are breaking the switch off too easily.

oh and like many others i was hesitant, pretty much afraid of flashme, but it really is so great and *EASY* to do, its idiotproof unless somehow you freak out and ignore the text on screen and turn off your DS. i found out the precision screwdriver set i was going to use isnt conductive, so i had to leave my DS sitting on the table for like 20 minutes while i dug around for a paper clip.

anyway, i hope this thing works well with flashme because its either this or superpass2.

First, thank you for the nice tutorial, it is the most complete and clear instructions i have seen in 5 days!

However, I am having a problem with at your step 8. "Start your DS with only the Supercard in and when the Supercard menu boots, run the .gba file."

It is my understanding that unless you already have a flashed NDS, the supercard menu does not show up. When booting with the gba (supercard) cartridge in, the NDS shows the gba logo as normal and even though i can run the gba file i created, i cannot get it to load my game.

I simply cannot figure out what I need to do to get my EZPass2 to work properly....

I have a FW2 NDS (I found this out by using the 'Chat Room A' trick), an original AD2J "Nintendogs - Chihuahua and Friends" game, an EZPass2 and a supercard with a 1Gb SD card.

I connect my EZPass2 cable to my parallel port, plugged in the USB cable as a power source, and connected it to the small EZPass2 NDS cartridge. I run the ispVM program and it finds it fine, and I followed the instructions to put the original JED file on the card (since I am FW2). During my trials and errors, I have also put the "AD2J-0 Nintendogs - Chihuahua and Friends" JED file onto the EZFlash2 card successfully. (Yes, I see the successful message for both of these when done.) I have now also done the same with your tutorial, and even though it says "Writing SRAM done" i cannot go to the next step.

I have tried a million things with absolutely no luck for five days now. I simply cannot get NDS to boot up my game using the EZPass2! When booting the up my NDS with the flashed Nintendogs JED, the original game, and no supercard, both screens go white. I have tried copying the SAV file from the "AD2J-0 Nintendogs - Chihuahua and Friends " onto the root of my supercard and plug that cart into the GBA slot on the bottom of my NDS, also tried putting the entire dump of the game onto the card, also tried putting on the supercard patched version of the nds and sav onto the card, etc. etc. etc. ARG!

Starting up the NDS in manual mode only shows the GBA cartridge. The NDS menu window for the DS game is blank ("There is no DS Card inserted.") Changing to "Auto" mode just boots to my GBA cartridge which doesn't start the flashme program (no matter what the name) like it is supposed to. I get the normal GBA logo screen instead of the supercard screen.

I cannot use the Manager or Client programs because i don't have a EZFlash3 cart (I was told the supercard was great, so i bought that.)

What I really want to do is flash my firmware, but every instruction has the line "Turn on your DS and run the flash update program using PassMe..." - I just can't get past that line!

    Please can anyone help me?

    Cheerz in advance!
    Please and Thanks!

I meant why it had a paralel port/usb cable. That's the weird part since no passme has that.

    Good tut/review though [IMG]
