It doesn't save. The changelog specifically states that you should save and go back to the main menu of the game before you soft-reset. You don't have to do that, but if you're paranoid about losing/corrupting your saves, it would be a good idea.

Thanks, for the info maybe they'll fix this when the 1.06 Final is released.

Resetting is not supposed to save the game. Saving the game is supposed to save tha game. This is not a bug, even if they could somehow make games save when soft resetting they shouldn't do it.
/agree. To be honest, I can't even see myself using the soft-reset. As much energy as it takes for me to arrange my fingers on the combination and press them is either the same or not very much more/less than the energy it takes to switch the power on/off.

It's a nice feature (I guess) but not a necessity.

EDIT: Oh yeah, the ability to save on soft-reset won't happen. In order to do that, it'd have to be a realtime save (as well as realtime load on the next boot).

hmm...this reset combi isn't that difficult since it doesn't involve the start and select buttons. it's just like the supercard reset buttons. easy to do, and difficult to do wrongly unless it's a kid mashing the buttons. i used to miss it when i switched from supercard to ez4 lite. Now its back!

Hehe, I didn't say it was difficult

I said it isn't any easier than hitting the power switch so it's not a benefit to me

I have a 4 year old little brother, and he's never going to get near my DS again. Last time he did, he erased my game for New Super Mario Brothers.

My two year old plays on the ds far more than I do. :-)

QUOTEA much more likely scenario for me, however, is to loan my DS out to friends who are going on vacation. Something I've already done a couple times. And I'd just like to avoid the "Hey what the hell how come only Castlevania loads you told me you had 20 games on this you lying piece of shit" phone call.

Thats why I said make it an option. If you are going to loan it out to your friends go into the menu and switch that option off. When you just want to play one game for a few days turn the option on.

If you (not a friend) does need to boot into the menu for some reason, hold button.

Guess I am the only one but I have to press all 4 main buttons and 2 shoulders and start and select to soft reset but even then I do not go back to the R4 menu it just resets the rom. Without start and select it does nothing.

I've had no real reason to use this yet though.

I think it's fine the way it is?! doesn't take me 3 seconds to choose the game i want! =]

Yes, it's fine the way it is - but it's better the way some other cards enable you to autoboot the last-played-game.

I'm sure his 4yr old brother will be delighted at you offering to write a firmware just for him though.. .'-)

did you on the reset function by pressing the right trigger on the rom selection screen?

works fine for me. all other ds games resets to the games' menu with the addition of the start/select buttons.

The only problem I've found with hiding the directorys and some of the files is that they are hidden on moonshell. So its no use hiding my mp3 and picture directorys. Hopefully moonshell will be changed so you can show the hidden directorys. The reset function works fine on mine. I would like to see in the next firmware update a way of going back to the original DS screen so you can play GBA roms etc... Maybe another option on the menu to do this.

I do hope the supercard and m3 teams give you the option to change how your carts boot up. With having flashme installed it boots straight up to my supercard lite, so I have to keep pressing select which is annoying as I keep forgetting. I don't want to uninstall flashme because its handy to protect against any brickers.

Moonshell already allows you to show directories with the hidden attribute. In the moonshell ini change "Attribute_Hidden=1" to "Attribute_Hidden=0"
