All these forms are becoming just too much and convoluted. In 15 years time we'll have over a thousand different forms.

Despite all the disappointments, it's a new main pokemon game that's not Let's Go, so I'm actually pretty hyped I admit, this trailer sparked that hype a bit as well.

    Amazing. Love it.

Those pokemon look hilarious. Not sure about Team Yell, but Team Skull set the bar pretty high.

No modeling or animation program worth its cost would let models and the rigging/bones/animations be inextricably coupled to the models. 3d studio max won't do that by design. Neither does Blender. The only way Game Freak's assertion that they have to do new models and animations would make sense is because the modeler and animator(s about to be fired) saved them in such a way to be tied together. Considering not even ye olde Torque game engine did that over a decade ago, game freak has no valid excuse. Even if they wanted to up the details from the 3ds models, that should have no bearing on the rigging already there for the animations and moves.

It also doesn't excuse the net graphical downgrade that a Nintendo Switch game is doing from the 3ds game. From a company second only to nintendo itself to having access to the console sdk's to work this stuff out. That Sword and Shield is in this state after all this time is a glaring admission of incompetence at GF, and at least several people should rightly be fired for it.

As it is, pokemon makes them an embarrassing amount of money. As in, they could afford to outsource a full orchestral soundtrack, and outsource animations and models to effing Disney and still make their expenses back in a week upon launch. All they had to do, was not fuck up. These omissions come off not just as incompetence, but malice.

Honestly with as garbage as gf is handling it and blatantly ignoring the feedback, i would put this one up alongside Crysis in the not even worth pirating sin bin.

    >>"Ignoring the Feedback"
"Okay team, some people online said we should double the size of our game with only a few months of development time left. Better get to work"
Everyone complaining has no idea how game development works, and how much time and resources even a simple change takes. People need to stop being so entitled; GameFreak owes you nothing. When did GBATemp go so downhill? I've never seen so many children whining in one place before.

Every thread on this site is filled with commenters complaining about how the world isn't good enough for them.

It's entitled to want a $60 game, from the *biggest media franchise of all time*, to not cut basic features like...having the Pokemon in it? Even ignoring any other issues like Home.

His comments read like the kind of moron that applauded when that lying trash todd howard promoted how they were going to put the Fallout back into fallout 76, at an extra freemium dlc price on top of the $200 non-game he sold already.

Yes it is. Not only will Sword and Shield still have hundreds Pokemon, but it's naive to think that with every single Pokemon generation, GameFreak is going to add 100 more pokemon on top of all of the other generations. What's the plan 3-4 generations from now? Devs will have to be handling over a thousand Pokemon? What if they want to remake the models in the future? What if they want to add higher fidelity animations to the Pokemon's attacks? Are you aware of how much time it takes to do that? Don't you think that a game in the future with 300 really high quality Pokemon with high quality animations would be better than a game with 1000 borderline T-Posing Pokemon that attack by having their model just up and down? Because that is how it is right now on the 3DS. The whole thing is quantity vs quality.

Are you aware that they aren't remaking the models or animations? If they were, that would be understandable. But they're reusing the models they made specifically to be futureproofed. So they wouldn't have to remake them.

Youre literally baselessly bashing. Knock it off. I dont think you understand how much work goes into a game theyre not lazy at all. Stop ignoring the positives. Ive seen two posts of yours in this thread so far, and both are obnoxiously pessimsitic and just flat-out ridiculous.

I am, which is why I said "in the future". There's nothing stopping them from creating new animations with the futureproof models in future games, other than it would be a monumental task to do that for every single Pokemon.

Loving it so far. Now if we get an Arbok with a bow tie and a monocle I'll go pre-order Shield right now.

That's cool and all, but I will just wait for the Ultra Sword/ Ultra Shield/ 3rd version of the game which will hopefully have all the pokemon up to this point included with new features added over the previous versions rather than spend $60 for an inferior product.

    Baseless?

Their entire ds generations of games were afflicted with horrendous processing lag that made battling painfully slow. And rather than fix the broken gts system or the flood of impossible to fulfill trade requests, they lobbied nintendo to just ban everyone before fixing it. It wouldn't have taken nearly as much to fix the problem of impossible requests to fulfill, but gf chose to do nothing.

X and Y had its framerate cut by half (if not more) just on one on one and wild battles if you turned on the 3d slider. More for each additional 'mon on the screen. Smash on 3ds had better models, more of them on screen, and running faster *with* 3d enabled. And the only solution was a cop-out by disabling the slider altogether in the successive games. Nevermind the out and out contempt Tajiri shows the fan base. Or the wholly unwatchable show, all because it's starring Tajiri's self insert of Ash Ketchum. Try as i might to get into it again with the new sun and moon season, and be pleased with the stuff happening around Kukui and Team Skull, only to be unable to tolerate past two episodes because they kept laser focused on Ash being as stupid (if somehow not MORE stupid) than he was back in gen 1.

The footage from Sword and Shield in game shows worse graphics, and fewer animations than even the Gen 5 ds games, let alone Gen 7 on 3ds. This is not a console quality pokemon. Let's go pokemon is more complete than Sword and Shield is, and that's saying something.
