I guess this might be an okay time to ask, but what is that "temp" in there for? Temporary? Tempermental? Tempered? Temperature?

Temporary. Contemporary. A long time ago on a server far far away, GBAtemp used to host the last 10 ROM releases. So any file on the server was temporary, i.e. only available before the next 10 releases pushed it off the list. That made the site contemporary [IMG]

And since the site used to get closed and shut down every other day due to hosting illegal material, the whole site was temporary at all times.

    GBA temp.

Plus, all that adversity probably made the site tempered.

Cool little history lesson though. Thanks.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the [IMG].

So, if you're looking for temporary employment, look elsewhere.

Ah, Lookout, ol' buddy. I missed your bad grammars. If you were to publish a book of everything you've ever typed throughout the entire period of your life, I'd buy it in a second. [IMG]

Hey lookout, don't worry ever about the grammer. I've understood everything you've ever posted just fine.

    Little Story:
When I was 12, my family moved from south to north. I'm from North Carolina, and most natives here have a fairly strong southern accent. The place I moved to up north was populated largely by northerners from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and just generally a lot of "northerners" (it was a resort town, thus the mix.)

In America, the south gets a bad rep as being stupid, largely because of the accents and tendencies towards lazy/relaxed diction. I was pummeled by the residents for my accent.

I made the mistake once of using the phrase "I reckon", and was thenceforth known to many as Reckon. "Hey Reckon, y'all cookin' possum fer supper this evenin'?" etc. etc.

At first I had a horrible time with it, feeling put down, and "less than" them. I came to realize that they were mostly just joking though (mostly) and began to take it in stride. After that it got much easier to tell who was putting me down versus who was just funnin' with me.

Just wanted to let you know, since you are obviously a humorous fellow, most people are just playing. I understand the issue though. [IMG]

I hate the name of this site and here are the reasons why:

    GBATemp

GBA = Makes the site look outdated

Temp = Not here to stay for long.

GBATEMP = Just plain ugly name and worse of all makes it sound lik ethe site is only about one thing.... outdated GBA stuff.

And yet you were still lured to the site despite the name? [IMG]

I think the name is just fine. Keeps us in the know with our roots. [IMG]

Trust me, when 2010 rolls around, we'll be the only site that even still remembers the "GBA" [IMG]
